Secondary profs on alts?

First time post, long time lurker (wish I had logged in for all the browsing over the last few months)

I’m mapping my main and alts’ class, race, and profs (so excited to do it right this time). I haven’t found a compelling reason to take cooking and fishing on any toons except my main. Is there a reason for any or all of the alts’ to take those profs, assuming my main can farm and share? Thanks!

bump, curious about this myself.

If one of your alts is a Hunter with a pet that eats fish, definitely take fishing there.

Other than that, it’s easy enough to make what you need on your main and mail it to your alts.

The only professions I can imagine taking on more than one character are Alchemy and Tailoring for more Arcanite Bars and Mooncloth per 92 hour period.

For alts (after lvl 35) i always like tailoring (especially on a mage alt) alchemy and leatherworking. Alts to me are characters ill want to play like 20% of the time so might as well have them maki g gold while im not playing them with the transmutes.

Pretty much this all the way.

Only thing i’d add is the best farming alt to have is a rouge @ 60 with mining, herbing and fishing. Then you can easily get to all nodes, sap any mobs you might agro while you gather, and then get out of there to the next node and so on.

Dump skinning on hunter ( cause of animal tracking ), then mix what ever on what ever toon you like.

Leatherworking has cured rugged hides.

Oh yeah, that makes sense, requires Leatherworking to use the Salt Shaker.

Otherwise you can make as much Cured Rugged Hide as you want, just need to buy the mats rather than being able to refine your own salt.

I always do. The reason I first did it, was for the Dakmoon Fair quests, more alts to do the fair quest, is more alts working for those Darkmoon faire tickets.

Having the Tickets means getting heirlooms, transmog clothes, upgrading heirlooms, getting pets, getting mounts. Also, it’s really easy to level the secondary skills as you level the character.

I would minimum level stuff like fishing or first aid on some characters to 75 for this reason, same with cooking, but I tend to level that one more.

Another good reason is the Daily quests for cooking and fishing, it helps with both gaining rep and gaining XP on lower level characters.

Planning a bit far ahead there. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Don’t think these exist yet either. Could be wrong on this one.

Yes! I need these things!

Also I forgot I was in the classic forum!

These are awesome considerations, thanks everyone. To clarify on Darkmoon Faire turn-ins – looks like for Classic it’s just Blacksmithing, Engi, and Leatherworking. They take certain world animal mob parts as well.

Thanks again all.
