Do you guys ever wonder what it would be like if zones got actual seasons? Obviously you have zones that are basically winter 24/7 like… Winterspring or Northrend, or Stranglethorn being summer 24/7. But those kind of make sense because in real life, Antarctica and tropical areas are the way they are because of equator stuff, right. You get what I mean.
I am more-so talking about stuff like most other areas in WoW. Obviously, unless there is some kind of lore reason I don’t recall, the Jade Forest is ought to get snow in the winter and stuff, you know? I saw somewhere that the Jade Forest is based off of southern China, and southern China gets snow lol.
This would be awesome to see in zones, generally. Of course, it would be a TON of work to basically make 4 different versions of the same zone, each version of which you’ll only see for a few months each year.
I could see the downsides, though. For example, if they implemented this into past zones (assuming this would hypothetically be a future expansion feature and that anything before said expansion would be considered a “past zone”, including TWW zones), and someone wanted to replay that questline on an alt or something, it could really take away from the feel of the zone, the nostalgia of it.
It could make traversing zones annoying at times, perhaps maybe make some quests undoable (i.e any quest where you need to go into water to get something; what if it is winter and the water is frozen over!?)
Though, this could be remedied by utilizing timewalking, since I think a lot of questlines happen on specific dates to begin with, lore-wise, but that would be INCREDIBLY annoying to go to Zoridormi (iirc) every single time. The bronze dragon could potentially also put you in whatever season you’d like at any time you want, but that kind of defeats the point a little. I don’t know.
What do you guys think of seasons? We have weather, I know, but what about seasons as a whole?
