Season of ... Toxcity - Blizz we need an intervention

Season of Discovery …

This little gem started as an amazingly fresh take on World of Warcraft, it offered something new and that special twist that was had so much promise of amazing new adventures of Azeroth.

We popped out of the ground, bright eyed and bushy-tailed and for the slightest flicker of a moment the voices in unison could be heard from Darnassus to Booty Bay echoing the chorus of

“Kumbaya my Lord, kumbaya
Kumbaya my Lord, kumbaya
Kumbaya my Lord, kumbaya
Oh Lord, kumbaya”

We helped each other discover the new little wonders and our eyes twinkled for the briefest of moments like a child on Christmas morning opening that covented toy we had asked for all year long.

We grouped together to get quest mob kills, we showed strangers were to find hidden runes. We took turns and shared, we laughed with our guildmates and had laughed and for just that small flicker of time had fun and enjoyed … a game.

The peace was not to last, the Horde and Alliance will NEVER be as much at war as we are amongst each other.

By the time dungeons came around… We became who we always have been in retail, in classic…

We lost complete perspective of the game, at least in Retail / Classic by Wailing Caverns we are still pretending to be decent human beings.

Those elitiest that scored the lower level toons, about silly things such as a drop from Dead Mines or Wailing Caverns are now loot counciling down to Rage Fire Chasm, because NOW in World of Warcraft you have a “BIS” everything to walk into Ragefire Chasm or Deadmines!

Before when we would enjoy having a 10 join us, in RFC because why not right? It was RFC it didnt matter. Now we are checking logs for Deadmines and Wailing Caverns?

The elistist that you to flex on your whole guild they solo’ed WC at 19 is not demand a full group of full “Raid BIS” 25s to go into a dungeon?

Somewhere between SoD and Classic about 85% of the population has lost thier ever loving minds. Maybe it was hard core classic and that was just “too much” for our fragile brains and we just completely lost the little shred of humanity and diginity we had left.

You want to GDKP BFD … ? Have you lost your… You are level 25… You do realize bro there are 35 other levels…

“BIS GEARED TANK SELLING TANKING SERVICE FOR DUNGEON” – What in the world, you mean the dungeon that you basically grab 4 other warm bodies for and you made it work in Classic / Retail for how many years? Someone is ACTUALLY paying for that now? I mean this game produces the BEST used cars sales men in the world.

I am really trying to understand the mentality, of what is going on here.

You are logging Wailing Caverns?! You are gatekeeping appropriately geared and level required toons from groups? How sad and pathetic can elitist get they have to stoop that low literally in the game …

SoD and the level cap phases has created the most incredibly toxic enviroment for players. This garbage has ruined World of Warcraft, and it is a cancer that is spreading.

I love pushing progress and content, but this is not what this. This is people making the game insufferable. GDKPs inflating the economies, promoting gold buy etc. Use something called social skills to find a group of people that you can clear content with and enjoy the game.

Master Looter has a time and place but I hope Blizzard removes it to stop the GDKPs. Need / Greed ever thing IDK but please keep that toxicity on Retail and Classic or make GDKP loot setting and the money goes to blizzard (Lawl) I would die laughing GDKPs would stop over night.

SMH something has just gone seriously wrong wtih the community. You are all tripping over loot from the lowest dungeons in the ever loving game.

You are logging the LOWEST content in the game, you are fighting over the LOWEST gear in the game… We are nothing but glorified Twinks…

You are all Twinks! You have not hit max level. You are not clearing end game content – this isn’t even MID GAME content. Stop the logging, loot counciling in RFC, VC, WC and Stockades. Stop the BIS this and BIS that – it isn’t BIS. Stop gear checking for Wailing Caverns, Stop gatekeeping people that are trying to actually play the game. If you don’t want please go back to retail or classic and be a twink there.

I have run out of sock puppets and crayons trying to explain this. No matter what some of you are still gonna eat the paste, and its ok ever class needs paste eaters. And its ok that some of you can’t follow the bouncey ball in the sing along. But possible, maybe at least a few will get it.

Blizzard you tried to do a wonderful thing and I think you are wonderful for it, but this monster went really wrong really fast.

Trying it is out of control honestly, this seems to be what the game has digressed into is simply stepping on others to get ahead in pixels.

It has been impossible to have a dungeon with people that are actually polite - the raging is at an all time high.

I guess it is all just a great social experiement on how far people are willing to go to trash other players to get ahead in a video game.

We are literally WEEK 2 and you are not allowed to raid unless you are “full bis, with consums, world buff, logs, and know all the fights”

It’s not Blizzard. There is nothing they can do. This is literally what people have become these days.

totally gave up rubbish…the very reason LFR was implemented.

Nope. Hardcore is the antithesis of this.

Just this week I’ve done an RFC with 4 people, mage, rogue and two hunters. I’ve done a Wailing Caverns without a tank or dedicated healer, just winging it and having heaps of fun.

This has been my entire HC journey. No one’s really cared as long as you are playing properly. Rushing and toxicity get stomped on fast, because there are real consequences for that nonsense.

Had a single bad player experience where one dude was rushing the tank, and starting to become insulting. After some nudging, he left and we finished the SFK with 4.

I commiserate with your experience however. It is a sad state of affairs and why being in a guild, or at least making some friends, is more important than ever. It gives you that safety blanket of not having to deal with all the idiots.

A lot of people won’t even help each other in the overworld. Whether it’s quests that are too much for certain classes, or Horde ganking in Alliance territories… I see the same people asking for help for hours. What happened?

It is Blizzard. It is the player base they cultivated. It is by their design that the population went from over 12 million peak and shed the 9-10 million people who didn’t care and distilled the community down to the sweatiest, saltiest tryhards in gaming.

this i agree. came back to try sod but players is still toxic gonna let game time expire and talk on forum

If you haven’t tried Hardcore, pop over and give it a go. It’s not for everyone but the community is much better, albeit reduced due to SoD.

tl;dr

WoW players are going to always take shortcuts do what warcraft players do best, ruin the game no matter what iteration.

nah not worth it feel is stupid to die and just lose all progression. I have time but dont think is worth to waste it for such stupid mechanic for a game.

Stop saying this dumb line. Level 25 is “max level” in phase 1. BFD is a max level raid.

Whats that famous quote? “Given the opportunity, players will optimize the fun out of a game” ?

:man_shrugging:

People like playing MMOs optimally and not having their limited time wasted. It is what it is.

Not everyone plays the game like that tho. Make a concerted effort to find those people and friend them up.

Here’s the deal. Tanks accepting payment for services is a good thing. I mean it’s a little cynical, sure. What you have to realize is that as a tank after you have run through the dungeon enough to get what you want, you have no reason to run that dungeon again. People always complain that there are not enough tanks, where did they all go? Nowhere, they got their gear and stopped running the dungeons. If there are other tanks available (as seems likely now that 6 out of 10 classes can tank) sure go with one of them and don’t pay for a tank. If they’re are all selling services then fine make them compete and accept the lowest bid.

Yeah, as I said, not for everyone.

It has been my best experience in WoW since Vanilla. Just seeing the world in a different way and because I’m looking more carefully at the world and everything in it, I have discovered places and done quests I’ve never done before.

Every session is valuable because you aren’t rushing to something, your only goal for each and every session is to stay alive.

If you are mainly a raider though, not so much there.

Name one dungeon that you cannot complete with out a “Tank” that is out right this instant … I will make it easier … 1 dungeon boss, in 2006 we use to use rogues as a tank… why?

Cause we could… and hunters, and pets… shaman (BEFORE SoD), Warlock pets, that guy no one could stand in guild but you brought him as meat shield anyway cause /shrug why not it was Wailing Caverns.

These dungeon difficulties have not changed if anything the are much easier because of runes, we have all suddenly lost our mind because blizzard put a level cap on us so we actually slow down and experience that content.

I never remember there being a shortage for tanks at this level - everyone wanted to tank even the mages who spent a lot of time tanking floors so it didn’t move out from under us (we salute ur sacrifice)… you had a pulse it could work.

I mean for the love a baby jesus Warriors didn’t even spec into prot tree until what? 40? You were a glorified Arms warrior. Which is still the case, again no need to go into the prot tree /arms

Please don’t say there was ever shortage of tanks in WC, RFC, VC, BFD (dungeon), or SFK…

We talking BRD, DM, LBRS, UBRS, etc Ok sell your tankie services whatever even though I have tell as someone with about 50 tanks spread across retail, classic, HC, and SoD - I have never made a copper for tanking.
