Kinda curious if there’s gonna be a new one coming and if so… when? I never thought I’d play pure vanilla again but I heard buzz around the Hardcore community on the bloodsail bucc server. So I gave it a go…
I died at lvl 14… pulled a 18 raptor in the barrens , (was a close fight but ultimately resisted my earthbind as I was trying to get away)
No big deal but I gotta say was fun as heck. But after I died the first thing that went thru my head was like… man I hope there is a SoM2 coming… and to a further extent hoping they do a real Hardcore death server.
There’s just something about it that makes it really fun.

there’s been not enough player interest for the last one so it’s probably not financially viable without a separate subscription.

yeah especially with the classic era poppin off atm. Robo just check some youtube vids lots of people doin videos on how many people are goin back to classic. The HC mod is pretty fun too. You keep gettin announcments where people die, it’s kinda funny.
No reason blizz can’t do something like this. Also to a further extent on the PTR they quickly had 2 servers labeled hardcore but took them down near instantly. but people data mined it, so suspicion is up to what they are doing and what they have planned

i know about the HC mode. I play it myself.
but when players make custom-made modes like this, it’s basically a sign that they’ve given up on formal development and are taking over that role from the devs.
is it a good sign, really?

The HC community does not represent but a slice of the classic era community. There are a ton of people playing on the era realms waiting on SOM 2 or just enjoying vanilla. I’d wager there is a larger portion of players interested in classic+/SoM 2 over a hardcore realm.
A HC gamemode is not a new thing for blizzard either and players bringing it to classic is just another sign that vanilla wow still has value even multiple years after a RE launch. There are players clamoring for both of these things but you are acting like there is no money to be made here lol.

So you’re telling me that back during Vanilla, when there were also Hardcore communities, that the Devs had given up?
I’ve seen some bad arguments but this really takes the cake. F to those 19 years of expansions since then, must have imagined it.

In this case the game mode is not because of a lack of development but a lack of streamer content. You think any of these people would be doing this if they were not playing wow for money?
Its not a state of the game thing its a state of online streaming as a career.
it’s in the spirit of MMOs to make your own adventure.
this is one of the few times that the players ARE experiencing what the MMOs were meant to offer. I think it’s appropriate to link a very ancient EVE video at this point… as the HC mode offers a semblance of the Butterfly Effect!!
EDIT: for the record, the only other well-know example of this is the RWF. And the fact that there’s so little player-driven events beyond these two is dissapointing.

I’ve given up waiting for blizzard to make any announcements, and i’m playing hardcore on bloodsail buccaneers server, level 15 at the moment having a lot of fun, but something fresh would be great, id take time off work just to play. Thanks Blizzard hope to hear Hardcore servers announced soon!

ya I’m there too, I’m releveling a warrior now cuz I died in the Agamand tombs in Tirisfal. Some dude aggroed all the mobs so i went in to get the items for the warrior quest, all of a sudden a ton of enemies came running back into the tomb and aggro’ed me lol I wish I recorded it
Honestly, I’d be happy with a fresh era server. No accelerated xp or anything. Just reset classic for me and let me replay through the phases as we did when classic first launched. Reset the server every 1.5 years or so allowing people to move their 60s to classic era existing servers if they want to keep them. Anything still on the server at reset will be erased. It seems like it should be easier than coming up with changes to raids and questing and all that.
