And why do you think they made “slight” adjustments to retail over the years? Because they thought they were making a better game. Turns out they were slowly but surely ruining the game one change at a time. If your enjoyment of paladin is solely tied to their position on a graph then I’d vouch that you don’t actually enjoy it that much anyway. Or if you are so hell bent on playing ret but want to be “competitive”, go play dragonflight.
Vanilla is not an esport. Stop trying to turn it into one.
Why is this people’s go to response instead of actually having a conversation? Classic era are permanent state servers they won’t change I’m talking about the next season of Season of Mastery and I think they should use it to dip their toes in the water and see what kind of new updates they can bring that everyone would be comfortable with
there’s nothing to discuss. we have a fundamental disagreement over what vanilla classic is, and what SoM2 should be. class balance is OFF the table. once you start messing with that, you’re going to destroy the game. just like what happened with retail.
It’s not my enjoyment to be in the top of the dps charts I just would like to play the spec I enjoy the most but guilds won’t bother with bringing you along because of the fact that their dps is butt cheeks
I agree classic is fun how it is but I’m not saying we need class balancing but quality of life changes you can’t argue that if paladins, shamans, balance Druids, and shadow priests had at least better mana sustain that they would be in a pretty good place without them suddenly being overpowered
You claim to enjoy the spec and yet are asking for added spells and a changed playstyle. You don’t enjoy the spec, you enjoy the RP of the spec, you can go perform well on it on dragonflight without needing to try ruin classic with class homogenisations.
OH NO! Giving the meme specs an ability or 2 is going to ruin the game and make it feel like retail You guys are weird af for saying that. This is classic + stop your complaining about little things and being so negative about it. In fact instead of saying for these people to go play retail, how about you go play classic era or just wait for a fresh classic and keep your mouth shut? Classic + is meant for adding new things and changing some things. Now im not saying give the meme specs exactly stuff from TBC but making them more viable is definitely something they should do.
They had crusader strike in the beta for original wow they took it out because they never put a cd on it for some reason so how would it be bad to add something they always meant to have?
paladins having something in beta is not evidence they were always meant to have it. beta is for testing. they deemed it too powerful for a class that has a million and one ways to defend itself. and they were right.
yes it is a little thing lol. Even in TBC ret with CS is only crazy bc of seal swapping Seal of Blood. Literally giving them 1 melee ability like CS or Holy strike or even something different would not make them OP or insane. War/Rog will still be way better. PVE and PVP wise. Such a bad take honestly.
I raided all of the content as Ret, I enjoyed the role and gameplay. No one’s asking for game play breaking changes. Just be good enough to possibly be mid tier dmg if you’re a good player. Most times you’d be barely above tanks. That’s just bad game design. Yes pure dps should be top dogs. TBC changes goes too far. Classic doesn’t do enough.
Point is there shouldnt be a hard “we don’t take spec X” and that was for the vast majority of the raiding community. Not just sweaty guilds. Average or even below average guilds would almost hold this standard and if the group struggled you’d bet you they’d blame the DPS hybrid for it.
If they tuned the damage high enough that mid tier guilds would take hybrid dps that would be fine. But it’s not even set at that. Literally get grief daily. Shouldn’t have to be that way.
If warlocks were top caster dps by far would we say just roll warlock, mage is meme get good noob. You’d bet to some extent they would. But hey you enjoy mage so don’t raid, you’re only for pvp .
Reading the paladin pages on retail they want to be able to dps pretty high. And compete at the top.
Classic paladins would literally love to be able to bring 1 ret to raid.
The biggest problem paladins have in classic is the stigma. Every bossis doable with all specs in raid….The Problem is, is that thought for most people is outside of the box and in the meta-verse that has become of WoW that’s a definite no go for most guilds.
You’d get the haters for you doing ret, and the jealous paladin healers. You need extremely thick skin to go all of classic as ret. And with some luck with finding a group willing to take you on as a “team mascot”
Add crusader strike in as a filler doing holy damage on a 10 second cd. Make exorcism usable on everything. Suddenly a ret can do low to middle of the road dmg. And rogues and warriors still own the game.
None of these changes would make this retail. And if anything you would probably pick up more players wanting to try this out and that’s good for the game.
