Season of Discovery Phase 3 Content Update Notes

I lost roughly 20-30% damage on Lava Lash from these changes, and 50% damage from my auto attacks. These are not exaggerations, but actual numbers that I’m looking at with my own eyes.

I don’t know if your intention was to absolutely destroy Enhancement Shamans, but congrats. Y’all managed to do it. I’m not sure Enh Shaman was doing so much DPS that it warranted such an absolutely dramatic nerf like this, but you are essentially giving them a 30-40% overall nerf to our damage, since the vast majority of Enh Shaman DPS was auto-attacks.

Please consider future changes to classes being taken with a chisel instead of a sledgehammer.

Enh DPS is hardly touched. WF/FT was already simming very close to WF/RB and added SP from mental dexterity will help close the gap from what WF/RB could have been. Beta is a definite nerf, but no one asked for the buff to begin with and there’s a reasonable avenue where the added SP again makes up for smaller white hits.

my point wasn’t that your complaint about warlocks was not warranted. It was that Shammy tanks are not the gods you think they are. As the devs tried to nerf ENHANCE they cut tanks very very hard. threat is a massive problem added with mana issues, Shammy tanks just can feel how bad they got gimped.

Overall I think the team has done a fantastic job with SoD, I have not been thrilled about every decision, but most wow players are not super reasonable and don’t understand that they will not make every change that each individual person wants for a variety of reasons.

With that said the worst thing that has unfortunately been consistent in every phase is that they have launched making a decision to make something a grind or expensive and then caved to community pressure to make it easier, after many players already spent their time.

P1 was waylaid supplies, P2 was Mount cost, and now in P3 we have PvP faction reputation with this Ashenvale event change. (to name a few)

Waylaid was the least egregious, with mount cost being lesser (even though I bought 3 full cost mounts), but the rep change for WSG is by far the worst, it fully diminishes the epic items feeling special at all.

In my opinion these were all massive misses, the fact that many people will have spent days and days of time grinding WSG reputation only to find now they could have just waited for P3 and fully afk’d in ashenvale 1 time all the way to exalted is super frustrating.

Check logs from today and compare them to the same player prior to patch. You’ll notice a dramatic decrease in Enh Shaman DPS. It’s not quite as high as my initial prediction of 30-40%, but it’s in the realm of 20-25% DPS loss.

I can hardly begin to articulate how horrible a change this soul link being unusable in meta ability is for pve warlock tanking.

Can you remove combat logging so we don’t have to deal with another horrible gatekept raid experience? We are two days from the next patch and people are still spamming crap about checking logs.

Why would you make ashenvale a daily? When a ton of people worked there asses off to get exalted with that rep. That’s a huge slap in the face to a good size of your player base. When all you had to do was add an item for getting exalted on 1 character as a reward to get there alts a rep boost? I feel like you guys didnt put much thought into or care about the people that do pvp.

I personally think that would cause more people to quit than would be worth it, but I’m all for them using SoD to experiment with locking down access to the combat log/making it not write to a file for logging.

Mostly because I think the outcry would just be really funny.

My main concern would be how to do it without removing RL ability to troubleshoot wipes in-game by tracking things like who is interupting/dispelling or who is doing unreasonably low damage for a DPS check (I’m talking about people who do like half the DPS of a tank as a fire mage). Once the raid has started the vanilla lockout system already incentivizes working with/coaching people once the raid starts so it’s not as big of a problem once you are already in the raid.

You’ve completely destroyed Shaman raid tanking with this.
WoE Requiring shield was good, stripping down the only way Enhancement shaman tanks do damage/threat outside of spells (with the mana that doesn’t get recouped on raid bosses) was… ameteur design.

AND HOW THE HELL DID YOU MANAGE TO NERF THE AP WITHOUT EXTENDING THE IMBUE TIME?

I gotta be honest, things are good, and bad, in this patch. But one thing is absolutely and atrociously STUPID.

You guys are nerfing the Mekgineer’s Arcano-Shredder to NOT work after level 45.

THANK! Because I didn’t want to be useful past level 45! YOU KNOW! Having my weapon crippled WHILE LEVELING is SUPER next-level challenge mode!

Nothing. I repeat. NOTHING. In the raid is going to be under level 50. You know it. I know it. Everyone knows it.

Change the shredder proc to not work on anything level 51 and above. And change the ST proc to be 60 and above. Because there’s not a single raid boss IN THE ENTIRE GAME FOR PHASE 4 that is going to be BELOW level 60.

Insane. Absolutely insane.

I like the change you made to give us all options of the level 50 class rewards, nice. It also goes well with the fact that we can get duel spec now so classes can really benefit from two of the rewards especially (ex: druid with heal and tank specs can take advantage of each of the chest).

You do realize adding more rap to the hunter isnt what is needed right?

Its the lack of SCALING that is making ranged hunter be in a horrible place.

That 200 rap at lvl 40, from 50 ap/rap, only adds about 25 dps. A bonus 150 rap is only about a 25 dps increase to a ranged hunters dps because of a lack of scaling.

You want the answer on fixing ranged hubter without making it absolutely broken in pvp?

Give rap damage scaling to fire traps and serpent sting. Bext reduce chimera shot-serpent sting damage to 15-20%. After that make sniper training effect auto shot. Then lastly make steady shot give the steady hands buff. - reduce the cast time of aimed shot by 1.5 seconds on the next aimed shot or until the hunter moves (movement removes the buff).

This would put ranged hunter into a decent spot without giving it absurd burst while being mobile for a pvp balamce nightmare.

This post needs bronzed and placed on the wall. 19 years been waiting for a REAL " wǣrloga" lock only to be disappointed every patch. , it will never be sadly, but I am sure we will see more shammy and druid spriest love…sigh

Super disappointed about this change. Feels like we all just wasted our time grinding in WSG for the last 2 phases just for that rep to be handed to everyone for free. Can’t say I’m surprised though - it feels like the trend with SoD is to make the game super easy (almost like retail).
