It might have its upsides now, but it’s not healthier in the long run. Classic 2019 proved that to us.
I was one of the ones who left Grobbulus for Deviate Delight back in 2019 (though I only did so because the guild I was playing with did so, not really because I wanted to) and the end result was that Deviate Delight died in Classic and was eventually shut down entirely in TBC.
I don’t see Chaos Bolt doing better than Deviate Delight. In fact, I’d say it’s actually doing worse because they only locked Crusader Strike for three days before giving in to the outcry from people who wanted to play with their friends and didn’t want to role on Chaos Bolt. With Crusader Strike available, Chaos Bolt’s potential was hamstrung from the moment it was born.
You can say its healthier all you want, but I’ve literally never even encountered a streamer out in the world in Crusader Strike, nor have I felt obligated to join a GDKP or pay for a boost or any of that junk. So all in all, my experience on Crusader Strike has been just as ‘healthy’ as the experience on Chaos Bolt… with the added guarantee that Crusader Strike will still have a population in P2, P3, and P4+
Chaos Bolt doesn’t have that guarantee. In fact, it’s more like it’s guaranteed to die. A ‘healthy’ experience on Chaos Bolt just means there won’t be anyone still playing on the server in three-six months.
