Season of Discovery Developer Update - Feb 27, 2024

The game changes and evolves. The devs shouldn’t hesitate to make the game better and more accessible because some players might feel they wasted time and resources or whatever. Now you too can make more alts even easier.

A lot of people prefer vanilla… and that’s why they play classic… maybe don’t shame people for wanting 40 mans? 40 mans are epic

i dont pug, simple fix

anyone who complains about 40 man raids not being a thing in sod just go play era. sod isnt classic and will never be, its the shell of it, thats it.

Logistics matter and social construction around the community are vital. The most rewarding items should come from the largest raids, that’s Classic in a nutshell.

Having rewards of similar power level from smaller raids SCREAMS Retail. Why do I need a community if I can get a good clique together?

Why not increase gold from quests at level 40? level 25 quests in p1 were giving 1g25s and level 40 quests in p2 give 1g90s? It is absolute garbage in comparison…

The retail pvp community is growing increasingly irritated at the lack of attention that y’all are putting into the active retail season. Seeing update after update coming through about SoD while everyone is ruining the retail ladder with their raid-boss DH alts isn’t helping.

Sure, pve updates are great. Leveling and doing more gnomers a week.

What about pvp? It’s a oneshot fest.

However this also means outside of raiding im done playing SOD until tuesday now.

Just push these updates during a scheduled maintence tommorow or as soon as its ready.

Def love the changes to cost of living, but the XP thing, dont like it. Its fine as a catch up mechanic, but should never be enabled in an active phase. This feels like a retail change.

Again, here’s to the people who don’t like building a community and would rather give the same rewards to the smaller cliques.

What about the players who prefer 5mans, or solo player modes? You can’t leave them out can you? Stop trying to make everything balanced and “fair”. The raids that require the most people to complete should have the best gearing options available, considering the work required around them.

Are Aggrend & co. even on the retail team?

you can literally turn it off if you dont like, quit crying

That’s irrelevant. Don’t rush things next time now that you know they are willing to make changes on a whim. And also no you ain’t getting a refund.

Because inflation is already insane. The point of the change is to get people to level by questing, and not just saving questing for 40.

There will be 40 mans for sure

Since it sounds like you are considering having multiple paths of progression, can you please considering making one path very difficult. You have mentioned many times that classic is an easier game but when it came out in 2004 that was not the goal. The reason it is considered an easy game as of 2019 is it is a 20 year old game that has been solved. With SoD it’s is no longer solved and there are many people who would love a challenging raid experience where we will have to progress over multiple weeks to complete a tier.

I think giving us Gnomish/Goblin engineering would make sense right now, I know engineering has typically been the “best” profession, but I feel it’s been significantly evened out with all the epic craftings from Gnomer. I am a bit concerned the Gnomish Shrinkray etc. will feel quite underpowered in phase 3, since it would be 20 levels later than you are normally able to make it. It would also fit the theme of Gnomeragon and the current tier sets and weapons the best to have all our doodads and gizmos
