Season of Discovery Developer Update - Feb 27, 2024

You are fine to play in those communities, but if you want the best rewards in an MMO you should have to participate in the biggest arenas.

Please keep SoD raids 10-man.

The best part about SoD is being able to raid in a smaller raid environment, not having to mass recruit or deal with 25+ different schedules at the same time.

The 10-man experience has been refreshing and it’s one of the best parts of SoD.

There seems to be so much focus on rewards for raiding and PVE content, and as someone who really enjoys PVP over PVE it feels like we have been left out.

I think you need to show some love for the PVP community and introduce PVP reward sets for ranks, maybe a new battleground or just a revamped battleground that’s new and refreshing. There has been alot of people upset about 1 shot /burst meta and how everyone is dead in fights that last 3-4 seconds.

Maybe introduce PVP tier set gear that have cool abilities that are class specific in PVP and have higher stamina then the Raiding gear but not to far apart where you need to farm 2 different sets of gear. This will solve the problem without nerfing classes. If you want to focus and have fun in PVP while you can still use PVE gear you can work towards getting higher stamina gear to not feel like you are getting killed in 2 globals. The AB rewards stink, and we grinded revered in WSG for what just some bracers?

On top of this the pvp event in phase 1 in ashenvale was not pvp, it was supposed to be a pvp event when all it was is killing PVE bosses lol. Stranglethorn is a start but theres no competitive feel and a mess no strategy involved its just everyone fighting to get killing blows on people who are already 5% hp.

I know adding arenas is probably a stretch but even if just adding rated battlegrounds. It feels crummy cause i know there is a huge PVP player base that feels left out with so much PVE/raid content. What if someone doesnt want to acquire their best in slot gear by raiding but instead want to work their way up and earn it through PVP. GIVE THE PEOPLE DIFFERENT AVENUES TO EARN GEAR BESIDES JUST RAIDING PLEASE! There is a way to do this without making people grind 2 sets of gear. It can be done in a way to make PVE gear still viable in pvp and the other way around. My point is that there needs to be a way for people to acquire their gear besides JUST PVE.

I will be unsubscribing if its 20 man raid lol
theres not enough content in sod to make it even harder to get gear.

I like the idea of a 20 man raid, but at least make the drop amount increased so it is balanced to a man 10-raid.

Also make more items for players to create through professions
Phase 2 birthed profession gear crafting and it is great, however there really isnt much for players to grind for. I am hoping that phase 3 would bring more to the professions skill where I am able to farm my materials (doesnt matter if I can buy it off AH or farm it ingame)
I just ran out of content after creating my BIS helmet for warlock
and now all I have to do is wait for a 3 day lock out to get more gear from gnomeregan.

This game is going to die fairly soon if nothing exciting or worth grinding for is going to be implemented.

So reducing mount price at 40 means everyone that paid full price now gets a refund right? Because thats some BS if we don’t
 mounts are not cheap

I came to SOD with the complete expectation of 40 man raids. Perhaps you should take the same approach as with WOTLK where 20 man raids have normal gear and 40 man raids have the same gear of higher stats, I know it was 10 vs 25 but basically the same concept.

ALSO.

“We want to arrive at a place where, ideally, if your guild wants to strictly stick to a smaller raid team of 20 people the rewards are compelling enough that you don’t feel “behind” a team focused on 40 player raiding.”

does that mean that 20 man raid rewards are NOT going to be balanced and equal
or “bis” as 40 man raid?

who the hell is designing this
myself and MANY other players do not want to play this anymore

learn from OSRS team. They take feedback from community and ACTUALLY make updates based on what the community says. Blizzard is doing the opposite and it seems like you guys just want to put an end to world of warcraft lmao

If I wanted to do 20-person raids, I would just play retail. I am really preferring the small and more tight-knit culture cultivated via 10-person raids. It harkens back to the UBRS feelings from Classic/Vanilla. You can leave some of that 40-person content as an option but please if you care about smaller communities just leave 10-person content relevant. Don’t force us to scale up 2x

40 Man raiding is not important to the community, it just is not. I am not sure who you guys talk to or where you get that info from? THE LARGE majority of players i speak with on twitch, discord or forums hate 40 man raiding and would love to see Flex raid in SoD. They also want to see more quality of life updates, like dual spec or free re specs to SoD. More quality of life updates to classes and spells.

Be better at getting information imo.

Or how about a Dual Spec Option. There’s so many new Roles classes are playing, let us actually play them!!!

I think have 20-man raids are not bad, but I would want to see it as an alternative to 40-mans. Similar in Wrath where there is 10 man lockouts and 25 man lockouts for the same raids. I realized that this will most likely cause more work for the developers, but having the untouched vanilla raids at 40-man (except for possibly some scaling) and then having the remade ones at 20-man can strike a nice middleground between playerbases.

/wave Can I have your gold?

You’re missing the part where you revert the disastrous GDKP policy.

This is 100% the right move! Leveling would end up being a barrier to participation in later phases and having increased participation should be the desired outcome for all.

For my group of friends, we are all very disappointed by this news. SoD brought back many of our RL friend group who haven’t played any version of WoW (or played together) in many many years, and the key reason for that was the 10-man content which we can resource just among our RL friends without having to invite “randos.”

With that said, my/our vote would be to make 10-man PvE content available if possible/feasible. I believe the interest of SoD for us was how it was different from original Vanilla/Classic—not recreating that exact same experience. I understand there are probably an infinitely many number of constraints and opinions on this though.

?
Turn off your addons- and go old school :sparkling_heart:

Can we allow battle for ashenvale to continue to give rep through exalted for wasrsong?? This would also be great for alts and new players joining!
