Season of Discovery Class Tuning - January 11

Not enough to worry about. 30 ish per penance tick and pom. Coh doesn’t matter, it’s too mana intensive to use reliably anyway in most fights.

Nerf is justifiable…but…with that we need to be able to use Renew more now plz lower the base mana cost it should be spammy more bc its healing isnt that great but enough to help in pvp…Im guessing that is the reason for the PoM/Pen nerf…once again RENEW needs help now …LESS MANA COST

Not bothering me too much…but we need more throughput now instead of burst heals imo…RENEW needs less mana cost

So we’re foing to ignore the fact that warriors are still absolutely dominating SoD? Inb4 30 warrior raids at 60.

The pets are still gonna slap you for a lot of damage, now they’re just going to do it slightly slower after the first two lightning bolts.

People are still gonna complain about them.

Lol who the F cares about pve. The raid is a joke

These adjustments aren’t about PvE lol.

These are strictly pvp balances.

Warriors get 100-0d by almost every class in the game. I’m fine with them being #1 in pve

leave priests as are, let them have a turn at being strong.

this is just a test post.

Chimera Shot and Flanking Strike mana cost reduction is a great change. MM and melee weave mana was a huge issue. The BM rune nerf looks huge, but running the numbers it is actually a quite modest reduction in our pet health and damage which makes up less than half a BM hunters’ damage. If nerfs for SoD hunter stop here and proper DPS scaling tweaks are made at higher levels in next phases to keep them as viable DPS, I can take this nerf and happily continue playing BM Hunter until I have the gear for MM.

Hoping this can take Carve and Explosive Shot out of obscurity and bring Hunters some much-needed cleave/AoE dmg.

Priest nerf seems appropriate, as priest healing is incredibly powerful to the point of being required in PvP and some other scenarios, making other healers far less relevant.

Priest r insane

My explosive shot is doing 35 damage per tick in full raid bis.

I main a priest healer and youre so incredibly wrong with how HPS will go its laughable.

  1. its BASE amounts. not affected by spell power, etc, etc.
  2. priests heal better than other classes due to the way the spells work. Bubble has zero overhealing, circle and pom and (sort of) penance are instant effects unlike the druid hot style healing which results in a bunch of overhealing.
  3. The only class that will compete at 60 is paladin (due to beacon) and shaman ( due to chain heal picking most injured targets) but priest will still likely be top or close to it the entire xpac

as for mages needing a buff, yall need a NERF first to deal with situations like a dude being able to LITERALLY FACE TANK all of WC at the same time. You heard that right, face tank all the mobs in WC at once. In cloth gear. Mobs the same/similar level.

Now im not sure i agree with priest nerfs all that much, maybe they couldve made it worse at lower levels where the base is reduced by (20% - (1/3 * level)%) so that its back to 100% at 60, but its not gonna hit priests hard at all. itll maybe put you under druids. thats it.

Well nerf Priest Healing, thank god I can dps…. Oh wait.

Looks good, thanks for updating the game as we go!

I just did my first raid post nerf and penance feels really bad now. The healing was so low I almost thought it was bugged and I was doing no healing. I found myself actually flash healing a lot more. PoM feels ok’ish, but I eventually just swapped it out for homoc as I feel like flash heal, renew, and shield are more than enough to heal this raid. May as well dps more. I also found myself penancing to dps more than heal with it.

For this forum alt? Yes. I got tired of how they were treating hunters.

Made this character late cata after the class got about 5 stealth nerfs back to back (example flare tick rate got reduced from every .25 seconds to every second with no patch notes in cata) and then the charge jump fix completely broke disengage, making it extreamly buggy as easy to counter (example if you disengaged and then a rogue used gouge, you would teleport back into the spot you started from, the applied for any CC outside of slows) which effectively made disengage useless at higher skill levels because the enemy player would have up to 2 seconds to CC the hunter (depending on if the hunter had hit the ground yet, there was some very silly teleport shenanigans with disengaging off a ledge engineering parashoot and then getting CCed before you landed 5+seconds later and teleport back to start). They did make it a bit better later to where it would usually just stop the hunters movement, but it still teleported the hunter now and then last i played retail.

The class just has a track record of getting the short end of the stick, and not even being told about it in actual patch notes. The players would find the change through all the testing and theriocrafting the class had at the time.

At this rate so do hunters in pvp.

Also the nunbers are in. For a BM hunter running bm rune this was about a 12% total damage nerf in a pve fight, and the “buffs” to the other abilities are 1-2% buff if using those abilities before the nerf (so were not using the bm rune at all and were doing less dps anyway), but bm rune is still better unless fight is short. This is for pve raid dps fights

LOL yeah sure thing doomer.

Hunters have advantages that make them unreplaceable in pvp

  • Zero cast point speed boost while nobody has mounts. (Outside of ashenvale obv)
  • physical DPS (lower miss chance minimal resists)
  • attack from 30+ range
  • there are two sources of attacking, making classes without CC useless.
  • all of these bonuses cascade in a 10 man wsg with 5 or 6 hunters, the pets become overwhelming.
  • you can actually AFK and your pet will get kills for you.

Faced premades up and down yesterday that were 4+ hunter premades… and they were insane. Couldn’t be stopped.

These nerfs will slightly touch pvp . Maybe give classes a 1-2% better chance… but when you were already facing a 98% chance to lose… what’s another 2%

Can you guys please look into making shadow priest more viable in raid settings? It just isn’t even comparable to any other caster DPS. Look at the charts. Shadow priest has always been horrible in classic, let’s change that in discovery!

Honestly it’s gonna be tough, they are literally going to need insane Runes to help a lot of Shadows issues in PvE, it was a meme spec for a reason…

I’m praying phase 2 does wonders for Shadow Priest. But I don’t think it’s going to end well.
