Buffing paladin damage. This ruins faction balance in pvp. They are already unkillable and solo 2 to 3 people before they run out of sustain or mana. This is absolutely idiotic. Still bubbling, bopping their healers, freedoming and now have 3-4 shot capability with all unmitigated magic damage, so the plate that I wear means nothing.
Blizzard is not considering the consequences of trying to balance this game around STUPID F’ing pve parses!
The sheer fact that they IGNORE how pathetically sad affliction DOTs are amazes me. Affliction DOTs have needed help since day 1 and they just keep ignoring them because Destruction is decent.
Its a nice buff to a truely emergent style of gameplay for Paladins, but has me concerned moving forward with paladins into the later phases.
I say this as it encourages the equiping of particular weapons (faster) to make this work, while at the same time having to still go for slower weapons for fights that require Div Storm. This in of itself can create headaches, designing weapons and loot tables to include for class specs that don’t have shared loot with other class specs (holy pally I’m looking at you) and encourages the hunting of a particular weapon which causes great frustation to any player base. So I don’t think continuing moving in this direction is of much benefit either to you or pally players in the long run. I think the answer lies in having a look at the pally kit.
I think we all understand that you can’t have your cake and eat it too, but I think we can recognise that the Pally’s base kit (excluding runes) doesn’t have much compared to some other classes that are capable of doing the same role. Hence the addition of Cru strike, div storm, martyr, beacon, etc. This gave Pallys the kit they needed to be on par in my opinion with your standard Classic classes.
I think its probably time for a deeper look at Paladin to bring them back up to par, but I don’t think this is something that can be done with simple hotfixes and damage bumps as that doesn’t fix the structural issues pallys have, which is their kit.
In my opinion it is perhaps worth looking at what runes pallys have and what they actually provide for the class and specs. Cru Strike, Div Storm and Exorcism are great additions, the former feeling like it had to be basline and the latter 2 being incredibly mana intensive to use especially during P1 but at the same time it is what kept us viable and comfortably middle of the pack. P2 comes in with Art of War another iconic passive and not really useful until the mana reduction component came in and as a result fundamentally changed the class again.
What I’m trying to point out here is there are runes such as Cru Strike, div storm, exorcism, etc that are intrinsic to the class (mana issues aside) and others such as Art of War that create fundamental changes. We could see positive structural improvements that can be done by providing a secondary component to the runes available such as we saw with the Art of War change, or offering it as a learned spell from books like we saw with the enhanced blessings
For example each of the runes in the Hand Slot should offer cru strike in addition to what they currently provide, but the specific cru strike rune perhaps provides it a damage bump or some other buff.
If there’s anything I want to get across its that Pally runes should be revisited and have secondary components added to them like we saw with Art of War and now Seal of Marytrdom with benefiting from Seal of Righteousness improvements. These secondary components will help fill the gaps paladins have in their kit. In a way go wild with it! You can always tune it down the next week.
Carve is a dead rune nobody uses, that’s not a buff to melee hunter, and I’m pretty sure ranged hunters have been lower than even feral Druid, not sure if these ‘buffs’ to them will make any difference at all
Have you been playing the same game as the rest of us? Hunters have literally gotten nothing but nerfs since launch. Melee hunter just got nerfs after they got their p2 runes. Ranged hunter is at the bottom. You’re delusional
Some classes have to respec to an entirely different spec to do PvP. We’ll be fine. And it’s probably only this phase too. From phase 3 onwards SoM/JoM are going to be so insane that DS likely isn’t going to be used anywhere besides 4 target cleave. Not even PvP. JoM with a slow weapon will hit as hard as JoC does on a stunned/incapacitated target, but every time.
Can wow sod adjust the 5 minute rock biter weapon or others timers to 10 minutes like in classic or dragonflight if they do this i would play sod again
I’m a little confused as to why Mages are getting anything much of anything right now. Just seems like there are bigger issues. Warriors are wearing leather out of desperation for stats.
So the solution to affliction doing next to no damage is…a slight modification of the belt rune. Cool. Continue telling us none of you play warlock without telling us that none of you play warlock.
Because mages are their favorite pet class. AOE entire dungeons. AOE altar in STV to get exalted rep in a day. Instant kill pvp abilities. And now might as well buff their healing, too.
