• Dual Wield Specialization no longer grants a 30% damage bonus to Raptor Strike for wielding two weapons of the same type.

On the bright side no longer need to to pigeon holed into using 2 of the same weapon type.

Shamanistic Rage rune now grants 5% of the Shaman’s maximum mana per
second, instead of a value scaling from Attack Power, Spell Power, or Healing Power.

Earth Shield mana cost reduced by 67%, and charges increased from 3 to 9. The base amount healed now properly scales with level and is about 50% higher than previously at level 40.

While these are nice changes, they stop short of making Earth Shield a real option as a rune choice for resto in PvE.

I still can’t give up thousands of mana a minute for Earth Shield, especially not on longer Gnomer fights.

I’d also still like to not have to re-cast imbues every 5 minutes and totems every 2 minutes, especially in Gnomer where some fights last longer than the buff durations. I could give up imbues entirely as resto now when at range, but I can also use maelstrom some of the time.

Spirit of the Alpha rune now grants the casting Shaman 20% increased Attack Power if they cast the spell on a target other than themselves.

When I’m a resto shaman and especially when I’m the only Shaman in the raid I have to use this over Ancestral Awakening still which is something that really can’t be addressed as long as Alpha is a rune.

• Lifebloom mana cost reduced by 50%.
• Developers’ notes: Lifebloom refunds half its new base mana cost per stack when it expires or is dispelled. This part has always functioned in this way, and we’ve seen a bit of confusion around how the mana return portion of Lifebloom functions.
• Living Seed now heals for 50% of the critical heal that planted the seed (was 30%). This heal now blooms from non-periodic healing received, in addition to any damage taken.

These are nice but living seed is still only useful here for regrowth it seems like, which isn’t ideal. If you don’t want HoTs to crit or to work with living seed, at least make Lifebloom’s bloom benefit from regrowth talents so living seed and lifebloom have some synergy when speced resto.

The problem is that we have barely any crit chance. Even raid buffed I have ~9% crit chance. And it only procs off of direct heals, not HoTs.

In all fairness, the nourish buff might make it okay. But you won’t be wrath spamming between heals if you do that.

Are you saying that if an enhance dps gives his tank spirit of the alpha, the dps gets 20% more attack power? Holy…

Actually Balthalor’s raid is fully of terrible players (although admittedly Balthalor himself seems fine). His Raid’s melee hunter parses gray and is well below Balthalor, a shaman.

Seal of Martyrdom can no longer trigger Art of War, and will no longer be triggered by Frost Oil or other weapon procs.

But why? This was some of the most fun I’ve had playing ret in SoD. I just see no good explanation as to why this change was made. Just to clarify, I mean Martyrdom not procing AoW.

You are filtering for max dps, which nobody really does. The gold standard for representation is 90th percentile.
