How about you buff warlock dot damage instead of just forgetting the affliction tree exists? Or do you consider a single tick of SW:P outdamaging a tick of Corr, CoA, SL, and DL combined to be “balanced”?
Hybrid tax.

Yes, specifically with healers, that’s how it’s always been understood
Being able to tank provides no innate benefit to you whilst soloing or PVPing
It’s the ability to heal that requires the offset in damage
Look at all the warriors crying because they aren’t top dps for a couple weeks.
You’re damn right!
Is a myth.
Clearly not, healer classes will continue to fall like flies
Just because a class is getting nerfed doesn’t mean a hybrid tax is real. It means that class had an over-tuned ability…
If there really was a hybrid tax, tank shamans wouldn’t be where they are now. Priest healers wouldn’t be where they are now. Druids wouldn’t be where they are now. Mages wouldn’t be where they are now. Currently a majority of hybrids have one spec that is at the top. Sure sounds like the hybrid tax is real…
You’re right, that is a dumb idea. The last thing we need are more classes one shotting people from 40 yards away.
Says the class at the top currently lol
Not talking about PVE, chief. How are my dots ticking for 50 damage in any way balanced against getting hit for 900 damage in 2 GCDs?
They are not in the middle of the pack in the top % of players. They are far behind the very top. Classes are played to their fullest at the top %, and that is where balance needs to be, otherwise we will end up with stupid amounts of class stacking in raids.
20 warriors in a 40 man raid isn’t fun for anyone and that’s the road we are heading down if we don’t balance classes based on their full capability.
Yes and they are doing perfectly fine in the top %.
They are non existent in the top %
We do still have a ways to go, I agree!
But I think we will get there I have faith in the devs
I just saw your other post, and it’s what I expected. You want hybrid tax to work the way you think it worked so Wars, Rogues, and Locks can be at the top even though they are hybrids.
I mained war in the early to mid years of wow and know they were considered hybrids and got the tax after they normalized rage.
Hybrid tax means any class that can perform multiple roles.
I get that’s what the words say on the thing you linked, but in practice that’s not how it should work
Well, now you said something I agree with. It shouldn’t work that way, for any hybrid, which is why modern wow doesn’t have the tax anymore.
When you spec for dps you can’t just swap to tank/heal spec mid fight and vice versa. You are whatever spec you are until boss fight is done and you can respec.
Not what I meant but either way, we can agree to disagree
Doesnt work. I only got 6 per cast.
