Season 4 and Legendary Acquisition

From what we’ve had access to and what we’ve been told, there’s going to be a rotation of raids in Season 4. That means, going through each of Dragonflight’s raids one per week on a cycle. For legendary acquisition, this has negative effects, because only two of these raids give access to one legendary per, with one of the raids not having access to a legendary at all. Because of that, the acquisition of these legendaries in Season 4 needs to be looked at.

There’s three rather easy solutions, that could go either alone or with each other: Make both legendaries acquirable from the final bosses of all three raids and/or massively increase the drop rate of both legendaries for Season 4 and/or make the initial quest starter for both legendaries acquirable via the dinar equivalent vendor.

The reason this is important is because, without any of/all of these solutions, it will be extremely more difficult for people to acquire either legendary in Season 4 in comparison to their acquisitions in Seasons 2 and 3. Especially with both legendaries being upgradeable in Season 4, these are going to be BiS for their respective classes, so making them even more difficult to acquire would be a poor choice.

There’s nothing stopping you from doing the boss skips for a chance at the legendary on weeks when that raid isn’t Fated (or w/e it’s called this time), you know.

The problem with that is that people are much less likely to do either raid when it’s not the current rotation. We’ve seen it this patch with Aberrus, and it’d be the same issue for Aberrus and Amirdrassil going into Season 4. People are much less likely to want to do a raid that doesn’t give current season-quality loot, especially when either legendary is limited in who it can be used by, to an extreme in the case of Nasz’uro.

Easier kill on off weeks.
Relevant gear on Awakened weeks.

Win/Win

With the HUGE difference being the legendary for Aberrus is not relevant this patch. But it will be next patch. + now it has better bad luck protection too

You’re wrong. People didn’t bother running those raids for the legendaries in the past couple seasons because those weapons weren’t relevant. They are relevant again in S4. Therefore people will run them. It will even be a lot easier on non-Fated weeks because the bosses will still be tuned for much lower ilvl characters.

People that can’t use the legendaries are much less likely to be running them when they’re not the current rotation though, because the legendaries aren’t relevant for them at all whatsoever. That leaves three classes interested in running Amirdrassil on off-weeks, and one class interested in running Aberrus on off-weeks.

You misunderstand what the rotation is for; you can still do the other two raids it’s just that one raid will be “Awakened” per week giving higher item level rewards.

They are if they’re guildies of people who do play those classes.

Look, the same thing happened in Shadowlands with the mythic mounts. People ran Jailer/Sylvanas kills on off-weeks just to farm them. And shockingly enough, guildies who were already fortunate enough to have the mounts (or didn’t care about getting them) still showed up.

Yes there will be less, but it will run. Non fated raids still ran in Fated SL.

It’s not a biggie.

Worst case, let’s say niether plate or Dracthyr gets their weapon and it’s week 8 of the Awakened season.

We still get Ashkandur and Vakash and still rule the world. There’s a ton of good options for us.

(Though I do really hope this doesn’t end up being the case  but I will accept my fate if it is so)

There will still be a small army of paladins farming the axe for the rest of the expansion, so there will still be listings for H Amirdrassil every week.

There are other reasons. For example, transmog.

Can people not just run end bosses in Heroic Amirdrassil outside of the fated? Like going back and running any raid any week of the expansion?

Fury warriors in season 4 are going to be decked in so much shadowflame, warlocks will get jealous.

One of the reasons why I am looking forward to season 4 as a fury warrior, Eranog’s ring

It is funny how Eranog’s ring back in Season 1 wasn’t that great for fury, as only 2 items could proc it (frostfire crafted belt and grief torch) but it is going to be amazing in season 4 since we got so many more ways to do fire damage. Whether through shadowflame, fire or other fire / X damage sources.

Shadowflame (shadow / fire) sources: Fyr’alath, Ashkandur, rolling shadowflame embellishment, Elementium pocket anvil
Fire damage: Grief torch, CSB, Augury
Volcanic (Nature / Fire): Zaqali Chaos Grapnel
Frostfire (Frost / Fire): Frostfire crafted belt.

Going from 2 to a lot and one of them is a passive dot with a theoretical 100% uptime, that ring is gonna sing. Obviously we cannot have all of them equipped, as some of them are trinkets but man, more options is always good.

Technically screaming black dragonscale for the shadowflame list but good luck finding a way to use the use effect. Also the enduring dreadplate is another shadowflame source but it is a tank trinket.

Y’all are going to be so stacked ahaha.

Someone in my guild posted a picture of an Abberus run with like 20 Evokers, and this is in the S3 drought.

The Shadowflame customization for the Renewed Proto-Drake won’t be obtainable in Dragonflight Season 4.
