I have a feeling that both normal and heroic dungeons will see an increase to the item levels in season 3 10.2.
PTR for 10.2 suggests +39 item-levels across the board. For Normal Dungeons that’s a boost from 382 to 421 and for Heroic it’s a boost from 389 to 428. World Quest gear rewards will also increase. Per this BLUE POST, Hero Track will extend from 5 to 6 and Myth Track will extend from 3 to 4. There is no Hero 444 nor Myth 450 in Season 2, but there will be boosted equivalents in Season 3. Mythic raiders in S2 could only get 450 gear off the last two bosses but in S3 can upgrade all their gear to Myth 4/4 at 489.

Interesting the mythic track goes to the same as the final 2 raid bosses.
Same item level rewards from 16s as mythic Fryakk lol.
Seems that way on PTR, but subject to change.

So all those whelp and drake crests I’ve been saving will get me to i463 next season?
Those will remain S2 crests. The S3 crests will be new items.

We getting complete replacements for all of the crests?
That seems abit useless.
Wonder why not use the ones we have?
so people don’t get max ilvl on day one?

and even with the ilvl increase no bfa raid nerfs and i tried them in 10.2 with the new gear still as hard as now
It’s the same as ever. Previous season items remain previous season. In S1 we had Sparks of Ingenuity to make crafted gear. in S2 it’s Sparks of Shadowflame. I’m not sure if they will rename the crests in S3 or just tag them as “Season 2” and can only be used on S2 gear.
Edit: Oh right, S3 crests will be on the currency tab, S2 crests will probably continue to sit in your bags until you vendor them.

Hope they convert the ones I have on my bags instead.
I saved them just incase there use changed in a later patch.
It seems that is happening. So I feel I should get to keep them not lose them to just vendoring.
Such items have seldom been useful in a later patch and certainly not in this expansion from S1 to S2. Just vendor them and free up some bag space!

18s, but yeah kind of interesting that’s for sure. I think they’re making things better for raiders and M+ players, but it seems the changes are a bigger win for M+ players.

All it takes for aspect crests and mythic track is 16s I think, but that can all change in the PTR.
Worse for raiders imo.
Been there in BFA where bosses didn’t drop useful loot cause people had everything?
wowhead just posted ilvl rewards, 18’s give 480 which is the start of myth track.
All their gear from mythic raid goes to 489 and farming heroic raid gives 483 now and can also be used to upgrade wyrm crests to aspect.
Will it be harder to find raiders? maybe! yeah. Maybe… idk but it is better for raiders.
