Season 2 tier gear and set bonuses

what do think of it

Blood
Each time you take damage you have a chance to cast Icebound Fortitude for 4 sec and gain Luck of the Draw! which increases your damage dealt by 15% for 10 sec.
Luck of the Draw! has 2 sec increased duration.

While Luck of the Draw! is active, Death Strike costs 2 less Runic Power and can strike up to 15 additional nearby enemy.

Frost
Your spells and abilities have a chance to activate a Winning Streak! increasing the damage of your Frost Strike and Glacial Advance by 4% stacking up to 5 times. Obliterate has a 15% chance to remove Winning Streak!

Winning Streak! stacks 3 additional times. While on a Winning Streak!, your Frost Strike and Glacial Advance have a chance to cast Frostscythe at 50% effectiveness. Frostscythe now also benefits from Winning Streak!

Unholy
Your spells and abilities have a chance to activate a Winning Streak! increasing the damage of your Death Coil and Epidemic by 3% stacking up to 10 times. Death Coil and Epidemic have a 15% chance to remove Winning Streak!

Casting Dark Transformation grants up to, 10 stacks of Winning Streak! and while Dark Transformation is active the effectiveness of Winning Streak! is increased by 100% and no longer has a chance to reset.

Not a fan of RNG on top of the RNG already built into the class with our resource generation, wound stacks and all of Frost.

Just seems like a balancing nightmare and it absolutely does not seem fun.

Frost in particular seems intentionally designed to be absolute rage inducing garbage. Buff Frost Strike, but make Obliterate remove the buff. So its trash for both BoS and Obliteration builds. How they managed to come up with such a horrid tier set bonus is beyond me. The feedback on WoWhead seems to echo my sentiment.

They straight up need to throw all of these tier set bonuses out for S2 and start over. I can see a lot of specs completely ignoring the tier set and just going for secondary stat weights. If thats the case, thats a complete failure on Blizzard’s part.

Frost’s bonuses are so outlandishly bad compared to Unholy’s I wouldn’t be surprised if it actually kills Frost as a competitive spec for this season.

Unfortunately, everybody is going to have to suffer the RNG nonsense. It’s the theme for the goblins and Undermine, so WoW is stuck there for a season unless the community as a whole convinces the devs to ditch that wholesale. (Ain’t happening 6-ish weeks out from being dropped live, so I have done my best to move on.)

That said, my personal opinion on the BDK bonuses: hot ripe smoldering garbage compared to our current set bonuses. You’d have a hard time convincing me “casino defense bonuses” would ever be a great thing for a tank, but once you compare this RNG game of 4 seconds of Icebound Fort to maintaining 20-27% DR bonus from our current set so long as we mind our bone shield charges… yeah. Just not looking forward to it at all.

I agree with the wowhead writeup for unholy (by Taeznak). It looks like the unholy bonus is trying to get us to play with San’layn instead of Rider of the Apocalypse, but the way the bonus increases the damage of death coil means we might be ignoring Infliction of Sorrow, which is one of the key components to San’layn’s playstyle, especially during Dark Transformation.

Will have to see how the bonus actually works, either way this doesn’t really change anything for players like myself who would rather use San’layn in PvP, or even worse they balance it horribly and suddenly mythic raiding becomes a requirement for viable PvP even with the 50% reduction they normally apply to set bonuses in PvP.

They’re all pretty terrible for one reason or another, frost is especially bad and if I didn’t mainly play unholy atm that would be a guaranteed unsub for the patch. Between these terrible sets, lack of positive changes/buffs, and both dps specs being pretty much the bottom of the charts in mythic has me looking to not play next patch; survival alt is not holding my interest atm.

I really hope they scrap the frost set bonus, and I honestly prefer they scrap the entire generic theme for the tier. It’s probably too close to release however, shame they let this moronic idea past the brainstorming phase.

Tier set bonues are a complete failure in terms of individual design. Its clear that blizz is making some cuts and its evident with these role specific bonuses…
