The first day the season went live I was able to recraft my Algari competitors jewelry and retain my season 1 sockets and gems. I go to recraft on another character the next day and all of my gems/sockets disappeared from my jewelry. I put in a ticket about it to blizzard and they said this should not be the case & to submit a bug report so here I am in hopes my sockets can be salvaged somehow

Yes, your season 1 sockets should disappear when upgrading to season 2 items.
On the first day of season 2, there was a bug where the sockets wouldn’t disappear and stayed on the season 2 item even if they were season 1 sockets. I’m not really sure what you’re reporting as the issue was fixed since and the sockets now do disappear.

That’s what I thought as well but a GM told me otherwise and to report it as a bug. I guess he was wrong. I was hoping we would retain our sockets
Did this on my druid and the socket/gem stayed. Did it on this guy and they got cut. Seems to be something was changed from Tuesday to Wednesday. I wasn’t so lucky, I got an AI response that is just full of made up situations that this “person” encountered.
Do not believe that first comment because that isn’t a blue and is not a blizz confirmation. Why are people posting as if they somehow know 100% it was intended? Why are they so invested in that belief when all signs point to it being a bug.
What we need is for a blue/blizz to confirm it’s a bug and that it’ll be fixed, OR confirm that it was an unlisted but intended hotfix. The players need to be informed because it impacts on our choices going forward.

Previous season seasonal sockets have always been removed when recrafting using new season items. You can see this in the crafting ui when you’re submitting the work order.
I don’t know why they made the decision to make the pvp sockets seasonal, as its just honor required to purchase them which doesn’t reset season to season. They did make the decision though, so forged jeweler’s setting no longer works with gear recrafted using prized heraldry. You can see the season 1 forged setting is now a gray, deprecated item.
PvE recrafting operates the same way. Any season 1 crafted items socketed with the season 1 nerubian gemweaver will lose those sockets when recrafted using sparks of fortune.

When recrafted, Signet of Titanic Insight kept the additional socket that could be put on it.
It should be easy for blizz to confirm either way.

Yes. When the socket is removed by recrafting in this manner, any gems inside are lost.

Kind of silly. Should get them back in the mail after the recraft. Seems like a needless gold/time sink every season. Kind of a crappy way to keep PvPers PvPing…

Yeah, like I said, I don’t know why they made the decision to make the pvp one a seasonal socket considering it only costs honor, which doesn’t get reset.

I’m willing to accept it if there’s a blue post explaining what happened and/or what’s intended. Because for the first day (Tuesday) my recrafts kept their sockets, but starting the following day they show that they won’t keep their sockets. However, there is no hotfix actually listed.

Yeah it’s kind of unfair how half the people who decided to recraft on the first day have all their sockets. Should just let everyone else keep theirs at this point. Like I said tho, a GM in a ticket told me that it wasn’t intended for the sockets to disappear, so unless he’s just completely wrong I hope they fix it.

My crafted bracers in Dragonflight from season 3 didn’t lose their socket when I upgraded them with the Awakened Spark in season 4 despite it being added with the s3 socket from the vault. So this seems like a new rule to TWW, especially since the PvP side was also completely changed from DF’s approach (where PvPers had no other way to add sockets to non-neck pieces except vault pity tokens).

yep, he just said the best way to go about it would be to submit a bug report and allow the dev team to investigate it
It’s not new. Crafted gear lost seasonally added sockets, or was supposed to anyway, in every season of Dragonflight.
