When you use the mobile site to search characters on the armory, the search text is white on a white background. Not only can you not see what you’ve typed, but since phones often autocorrect text fields, you can’t tell what you are actually searching before you hit enter. I tested both Safari and Chrome on iPhone 8 and had the issue on both.
