Seal of Diurna's Choser Question for Frost Mage

Why is this BIS for Frost Mages? What spells are you using in your rotation to proc this? I’m super confused. Also, the wowhead guide says intel > mastery > haste > crit > vers, yet I see all the top mages stacking a ton of vers. I thought crit to 28%, then as much mastery as possible? Are there some soft caps you folks can share with me. I’m a casual mage pushing keys on my frost alt, but I have 2 pieces to craft and now an awakened I can buy, but I’m not sure what to get.

Farming Azure Vaults for the two trinkets is awful lol!

It’s BiS for every class because the head enchant from Season 3 can proc it, at minimum.

And also the shadowflame embellishment and weapon enchant (though most casters don’t use the latter).

But it should be noted that it doesn’t do all that much damage, for me it comes out to about 2% of overall DPS. Might be more on a Fire Mage or a Destro lock but it’s nothing crazy. None of these items with extra effects are, really. It’s just about min maxing and squeezing out the most DPS out of your gear which isn’t going to make a huge difference for 99% of players.

And the shadowflame trinket from Aberus is RLY strong with the ring.
Manather simmed this some days ago. I will get the trinket soon too.

If i want to squeak out 1-2% i need to spend more time learning my rotation and no wasting icicles. Thanks though. Any stupid good raid trinkets I should get instead? I have some decent heroic rings already and can craft BIS rings also.

Aside from Belor’relos there aren’t any that stand out, maybe the one from Fyrakk too. But really there are no substitutes for the AV trinkets. The Tome is by far the best AoE trinket and the Heart is great for ST and has that hidden execute feature that’s very nice, especially in M+.

Destro lock main this season. Confirmed only like 3% in timed keys. I mean, it adds up, but it’s nothing groundbreaking overall like you’ll see with belerelos.

The shadowflame for ST and the trinket from the 1. raid spiders boss is also super for aoe as frostmage.

Whispering Incarnate Icon is also great for Frost, as well as the Iceblood Deathsnare if you really want to go big on AoE, but the two from Azure Vault sure are awesome. I’d say that if you really want to see big overall numbers, go with Tome + Deathsnare.

Did they change Deathsnare? I was stuck with it all of season one because I couldn’t get any trinkets to drop and it was pretty lackluster from what I remember.

I don’t think it was ever really bad, just not always the best option. I don’t know what they’ve done really, maybe it’s the way it scales with a higher ilvl or the Mage rework, but I’ve seen top mages running it on very high keys for Frost and it does good AoE damage.

I still wouldn’t spend my bullions on it right now though, at least not before getting the two rings and cloak but if you can get it to drop from the boss it’s definitely worth trying it out.

Problem with Icon is= its only rly good if a tank, healer+ dps has it in your grp too.
The Vessel of Searing Shadows have not this problem. Its always nice esp. if you have the fire proc ring.

Vessel of Searing Shadow fully saturates its proc rate, and is better than Umbrelskuls at max ilvl in ST if you have the eranog ring at high ilvl too.

I got the ice blood deathsnare trinket and yes this thing is great for aoe. The azure trinkets are great just got the heart in heroic and it does well. Not as good as the tome though.

It’s been good so good use of bullions. That idol of decay isn’t bad either from brackenhide. Like 5-6% and sims good on ST.

Its hardly above 0.5% of my damage. Less than 3 mil. I was excited to buy it this week and it feels very lackluster. I also dont need the vers and am trading 5% crit when I wear it.

Yeah, the higher your ilvl the less of your overall damage it will be. It’s going to average around 1% for most people but it’s damage that otherwise wouldn’t be there so technically it’s better than just a stat stick. Though I agree that the vers on it isn’t ideal.

Same thing for virtually all of the other bullion items with special effects. Most are pretty lackluster and nothing is really game changing.

Honestly, we’re probably better off just buying transmogs we don’t have yet. After all gear only last for a season by mogs are forever. :joy:
