I was hopefuly when i first heard of the DF talents that seals would come back but mainly this one, i remember how good it felt when it procced and i feel like it could do wonders for our gameplay if implemented properly with a modern approach, id like to hear if annyone else would like this back and to find ideas of how it could be good.
I was thinking of maybe when its active having it proc when AoW procs, making you deal holy damage to targets infront/around you and granting you 1/2 HP when it procs, it feel like this could make our rotation more fluid, while adding some damage outside of cooldowns.
Maybe another implementation could be that it triggers a smaller divine storm that could proc Divine Purpose or maybe just does aoe damage and generates holy power.
Maybe make it work with consecration as a lot of our talents go around it and maybe it just does an extra slash on single target and generates HP but while on consecration it makes the ground thump when it procs and gives one HP per target hit up to 3 HP per proc.
I don’t know i just started brainstorming about old abilities that made us feel good when they procced, id like to hear the opinion of other rets.
Agreed completely. I said in another thread that I like virtuous command conduit simply for the seal of command animation that comes with it.
I do hope they bring back seals and I hope they come back with some gameplay changes like those you suggested. Not just bonus damage or swing speed, but something fun.
honestly is was one of the thing that excited me the most when i saw virtuous command in the beta of SL, the extra weapon hits and when it was hitting wat harder, i was excited for that gameplay and feel, but now for some reason they removed that extra weapon swing from the proc and now the damage just happens.
I was never a big fan of Seal of Casino because I mostly played holy and protection. I enjoyed Seal of Vengeance/Truth the most. I always enjoy adding a small damage over time effect to direct damage.
No thank you.
Sorry but I would not want the vanilla/tbc version of Seal of Command back. Our spec is already hamstrung by layers of RNG, we really don’t need more.
If anything the version where SoC allowed our single target abilities to cleave would be the one I would want to see return.
Well yeah i elaborated on other ways it could be implemented in the post itself, i dont think anyone would disagree that their old iterations are dated for todays gameplay.
I’m aware, but all of those examples were still procs which is more RNG that Ret really doesn’t need.
We already have like 30% swings in dps during our cooldowns which is where all of our damage is and that is way too much. The spec needs RNG removed not added to it unfortunately.
The WotLK version would be acceptable as it triggers on every hit for substantially less and also allows abilities to cleave, ie no RNG element.
Given that we are getting really weak versions of Virtuous Command and Templar’s Vindication its kind of like us getting Seal of Command. The talents themselves need to be trimmed down to 1 talent point a piece and the power of them needs to be scaled up drastically for them to be where they are postioned in the Retribution tree.
Personally I think they should just throw all of the Paladin trees in the bin anyway.
The paladin devs (if we even have any) clearly don’t understand the class nor what players want. The fact they are keeping garbage passive non-interactive RNG talents is just additional evidence.
Honestly they can do what they want, I’m pretty tapped out at this point. There is a very low chance of me purchasing DF at this stage, and zero chance I will play paladin.
Unless something drastic is done and the class is actually addressed I’ll at best be playing WotLK instead.
I think there’s a few things that could be ported over to new trees should they do a complete rebuild. But that being said I don’t even agree with Ellesmere’s holy tree, though he could have stuff in the shared tree not in holy.
I’m just hopeful we get some sort of communication. Even just a bluepost saying we are evaluating the feedback from paladins.
If they were to put out a bluepost acknowledging a list of the things we’ve been discussing, with some idea as to how they will go about addressing it, even if they don’t follow through, it will go a looooooooong way to restoring faith in the devs.
The Wake of Ashes reset already kinda feels that niche, I think?
As for WotLK Seal of Command, I’d rather have them bring back seals and remove auras the way auras are right now, and have Seal of Command be one of those. Like, 3% damage reduction? 30% interrupt reduction? Crusader Aura is additive and not multiplicative, AND doesn’t work in RBGs? Ret aura relies on allies dying? AND these are on the GCD? Ugh. And Ret aura will be mandatory I guess in DF for all specs because of Seraphim proccing? Though I guess I went too much into auras here.
Agreed. Seals just have better potential for interactive gameplay than auras do. I never got to play with Empowered Seals but it sounds like a cool gameplay option.
Re-implement Retribution and Crusader as baseline passives, change Aura Mastery’s name and give it the empowered Devotion Aura effect and please give us Seals instead. This likely won’t happen though if you look at the pvp talents which interact with auras somehow, so unless they also change those, it’s not gonna happen, unfortunately.
Mostly for feedback, I would love if zeal would be one heavy hitting auto attack with the old race specific animations, like the human jump downwards strike for instance if anything for the feedback of getting the buff.
Brother playing some wrath classic made me realize how much i miss old animations, having all animatings become streamlines regardless of race took away from the race choice all together for me, now i only do it for what chaarcter has the best skeleton for cool mog armor aesthetics.
I mean I’ll be honest it depends on which version of seal of command we’re talking about if we’re talking about the version of classic and tbc OMG NO I absolutely despise that Hey look an R and G prock where sometimes you do really good damage but 9 times I’d tend you’re just straight up auto attacking.
You know however If we’re talking about the Ralph version where it basically became a Cleve Now that would be something really cool for them to bring back just my just my auto tax hit to additional enemies.
And the judgment does too Maybe they could even throw in some Is healing affect with that That would definitely help the AOE situation with repellence which is one of the biggest problems and let Bring some utility healing without losing thru putt.
Seal of Command isn’t really that special, you can use it on Wrath right now.
Seals are old gameplay that don’t really fit how fast the game is now or how it’s played. Let’s take a look at one of the best buffs Seals/Judgment brought, Replenishment, it has no real use for DPS as they aren’t worried about mana anymore. So you just have healers and it it was brought back in it’s Wrath form it would be incredibly OP so it would be nerfed into oblivion.
The last version of Seals we had was WoD with Empowered Seals and imo, Seal Twisting is the worst gameplay you can have. 20 second buffs you have to manage during a raid fight is just dumb, while it was good in PVP this talent was nothing but a disaster in PVE.
The only way I could see Seal of Command coming back, isn’t as a Seal but a talent that enables your Judgment/CS/BoJ/TV to cleave and add additional Holy damage to all your attacks, which I think would help us quite a bit as our cleave has been suffering the last 2 expansions.
So far bringing stuff back from the past has not worked well for us at all. Auras, trash, Exorcism, trash, Divine Toll, trash, Divine Protection, TRASH. We seem to get the absolute WORST forms of past abilities. I’m not even sure they could do Divine Hammer right, probably end up doing 0 damage and be a DPS loss even at 50 targets with this track record.
I like the idea of seals to customize your damage depending on your needs like you could do in WOTLK.
What I think should be avoided is the same implementation of seals as back in the day (BC / WOTLK) where it was on GCD and (I think, if memory serves) needed to be refreshed after every judgement.
Would rather have it operate more like auras where it lasts until it’s swapped.
