Sea of Thieves on battlenet - will you sail?

SoT became my 2nd game a few years back and it’s been a nice break from wow that enabled me to come back and appreciate what wow does so well.

Now that it’s coming to battle.net, will you be trying it?

I have amassed over 4k hours in it thus far and I do heartily reccomend it for a change of pace.

The immersion and game play is incredibly fun and the pvp has a very high skill ceiling.

It’s just very very different from wow beyond the fact that they both offer persistent worlds and world pvp.

I already own it on steam and I never play it cause I found it super boring

Never heard of it, never played it. What’s my motivation here? I mean, PVP? nope.

I already own and put hundereds of hours into it. Rare ruined the game anyway and the servers are borderline unplayable with how laggy the whole game is. Nothing works properly and the hit detection is some of the worse i have ever seen in a FPS. Also over the last 4 years it has gotten riddled with cheaters.

Game was good like 6 years ago, now it’s terrible.

Well the motivation is a fun game. It’s far more immersive than wow or really any other game I’ve ever played. The music, sounds, ocean etc - sailing mechanics, forts, skeletons merfolk etc. If none of the typical pirate/ocean stuff appeals to you I would imagine it’s not for you.

I won’t, my love for being a pirate starts and ends at my Outlaw Rogue.

I find servers have improved and haven’t encountered a cheater in a long time. Still more work to be done on performance though.

I wish rare devs were as capable as wow devs.

Honestly they just need to make Sea of Thieves 2 at this point. They keep stuffing more and more crap into the game and i don’t think the servers or the code can take it anymore lol.

I wouldn’t even pick it up Steam.

lmao.

They are certainly limiting it’s potential by making it playable on old tech. I assume that is a Microsoft issue. It’s still only 8 years old I believe.

They ever do anything about the endless hackers?

If we got WoW sea of thieves I’d play it far more as part of my sub. Hell I might keep the sub cause of it.

It always seemed more of a group game rather than solo. Not a bad thing at all but not for me.

I have mostly played solo for 4k hours but would definitely reccomend a crew considering everything they have added at this point. I mostly play crewed nights now.

I’m going to give it a shot - seems like it may be another fun distraction. Curious as to how much solo play it allows for but it sounds like that may be a viable route.

I’d try it out if Blizz offered a promotional pet in WoW or something like that.

Is it still random generated characters or can you make your own?

Yes. You can of course run the infinite pirate generator reset as many times as you wish but it is random.

I have played the majority of my 4k hours as solo. It is technically viable but much more difficult to survive/win pvp encounters against larger crews. Curse balls, good aim, and kegs help but aren’t absolutely necessary.

I’ve certainly sank a ton of larger crews over my 4k hours but that has typically had as much to do with my skill as their relative ignorance of game mechanics.

PvE encounters are reduced in difficulty for solo players, while retaining the same rep and gold rewards so it’s not all bad. And safer seas gives players the options of learning mechanics without the threat of pvp now. I did not have that option when I started.

Nope. Don’t want PvP and essentially forced grouping.

I want a great pve solo pirate game.

Not sure that I would get my money’s worth out of it. It never sounded like something I would be interested in over time.
