Screenshots Help

How come, when I press the screenshot button, a “snip and clip” button pops up now? Prompting a save and all that extra step.

It used to be, a screenshot was just a screenshot and it went to my screenshot folder.

Can someone help?

It’s a snippet tool and it’s new with Windows 11. When you press the screenshot button it will freeze and you can select the portion of the image you want to be your photo.

Even though the snippet tool comes up the photos should still be in your screenshots folder.

Just close the snip tool and check the screenshots folder in your game directory

I’m guessing your windows update changed your default print screen. You probably just need to go back in and reset it and the window settings.

Sounds like Windows snipping tool. Are you playing in Windowed mode?

I changed my screenshot key to my caps lock key to make it easier and avoid conflicts.

It is a feature of Windows 11.

You can turn it off going through Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard.

Thank you. It was bugging me so much lol. Sometimes I just want to capture a cool moment, then it just “pauses” the game, and then I gotta save it as a jpeg, directory, all these extra steps lol.

Thank you to everyone who replied to this thread. I sincerely appreciate it.

Yes. I miss the days of Full-Screen WoW :frowning:

This. It’s a Windows thing, not WoW.
It’s handy when archiving help desk exchanges if nothing else.

As a side note: I dont use the client screenshot button at all. I run WoW through steam and use a combination of the Nvidia Screenshot keybind and Steam Screenshot keybind. Just food for thought if you ever want to bypass all the windows troubleshooting things.

What do you mean by this?

never thought I’d be getting tech support for windows snip tool on wow forums but here I am, I too thought that was annoying to have snip pop up on screenshot, thanks for the info!

WoW once had the option to be run in full-screen, and windowed at one point. I can’t say for sure, but I believe it was around the Battle for Azeroth expansion, sometime in 2018, when users lose the full screen option.

I have Windows 11 and the printscreen key behaves as it always has in previous versions of Windows. However, I press Win + Shift + S to capture smaller snippets of my screen.

Doesnt fullscreen (windowed) effectively behave as regular fullscreen but without locking your mouse to 1 monitor?

not really.
the current “fullscreen”, is windowed.

the old “fullscreen” was actually the whole screen

But there’s no border, so what’s different?

Like I’m sure there’s some back end thing that makes it technically different but this looks like the full screen no?

No Taskbar No window borders

what OS are you using?
because i can’t get “fullscreen” without a border or taskbar like i used to be able to

Exclusive fullscreen runs better.

I’m on Windows 11 and I don’t have a taskbar or a border either.

Id try deleting your WTF folder. But keep in mind this will reset all your settings including your settings for any add-ons you may have

it’s literally not even an option anymore.

there’s “windowed” and “fullscreen windowed”.

fullscreen windowed is, as it states, still windowed

unless there’s some other setting which needs to be toggled in order to make it appear as an option?
