Screenshot quality

How do I increase the quality of my WoW screenshots? I post em on disc and they look kind of fried but when my friend post em they look CRYSTAL clear. How do I change that?

There used to be a command but I’ve forgotten it…
Something like

/screenshotquality, and then a number after it.

Search for it

from Wowhead:

/console screenshotQuality 10

The default is 3/10.

That’s pretty cool! I never knew that before.

Does it stay like that or do I have to enter that command every time I log in?

I believe you have to retype that on login, unless you add it the launcher config file for wow or something? Cant confirm that.

I would just make a macro out of it.

You can also use your operating system’s screenshot facilities instead of WoW’s, which saves a lossless quality PNG on your desktop. Windows has had this feature since Windows 10 I think, and macOS has done this since 2001.

EDIT:

  • Windows 10: Press Windows + Shift + S.

  • macOS: Press Command + Shift + 3.

Thanks for the info. I’m gonna do more research on these /console commands.

my win 10 just needs the Windows button + print screen button to screen shot.
youre definitely right… though. It takes a really good shot of the screen.

When I press printscreen, WoW takes a crappy screenshot and Windows takes a lossless screenshot and puts it on the clipboard. I then open up Gimp and paste from the clipboard and then export to whichever file type I want.
