This is dumb. The horde call it Dead mines because thats the name and the alliance call it VC because the last boss is Van Cleef and they have many storylines and quests that tie into that specific character so its more memorable. Thats all there is too it. Sometimes the horde calls it “VC” (rarely) and sometimes the ally calls it “DM” (rarely).
That’s pretty dumb. Especially since the official strategy guide for World of Warcraft published by Bradygames in 2004 with full cooperation from Blizzard has VC as the abbreviation for Deadmines.

Its dumb that names were chosen organically through playing the game when some random guide said otherwise? We are gonna have to agree to disagree. Guides are to guide you, not decide for you. There is a difference. Sounds like your just used to being a follower.
Also if you think companies dont approve names, gimmicks, ideas etc without them being correct or even good for the company i would like you to take a look back at literally any company screw up with PR. There are thousands.
Why does it matter what they call it? Thats like judging somebody for not calling a food the same name… Like… who cares?
Dude, it’s not a “random guide” it’s an official companion book for the game.
“Random guide” because there are many guides. Being the official one doesnt make it any less randomly picked from the hundreds there are online for different purposes. But still thats beside the point.

you miss this part?
Now you are being intentionally obstinate. Bradygames is still a Blizzard partner. You want to be right but you’re not and it bothers you.
You remember that time that everybody called velcro the “hook and loop system”. No you dont. Because people decide what words mean by using them. It doesnt matter what the company might call it the vernacular is built by the community and what they call it, it becomes to them. Thats why we have velcro and VC. You can choose to care but somehow i think there are more important things in the world than to worry about what somebody else calls something.
You should pull up the BradyGames guide for sarcasm. Yikes.
You too.
Lol i love being right, to the point where ill change my point of view to be right. Unfortunately you have nothing to stand behind except “blizzard says so” as if companies had the right to choose common vernacular for their products.
Lol ok totally misunderstood your post, I get it now. Sorry!
me too? Im confused.
:] forgiven.
I legit don’t care. Just throwing my coin into the drama hat to have some keks. <3
Except you’re not, but keep on believing. It’s what makes one into a winner!
Yeah, people like to say that your wrong and provide no evidence when they run out of smart things to add to the conversation. I can see where this is headed. Either provide something of value or your wasting both of our time.
It’s actually either, as confirmed by Blizz-

I’d see general chat for both DM and VC.
Playing on Alliance in vanilla, everyone was calling it VC. This was about 1 year into the game’s release.
Playing on Horde in vanilla at start, I don’t remember anyone saying VC. Probably because there was no quest to kill Vancleef.
Both acronyms for Deadmines existed depending on when you played in vanilla and which faction you were on. Can we end this “debate” forever now please? This is like High elf topic 2.0
