wonder why blizz doesn’t accept screenshots as evidence of anything. oh right, because they are easily faked :roll_eyes:

dire maul has nothing to do with anything. people said lfm VC because they wanted to kill vc. paradigms were not well established to be the dungeon name early on, which westfall is one of the earliest dungeons people ever did.

it’s ok that you have been wrong since 2005 as long as you learn from your errant ways.

No it was not. They said sometimes people called Deadmines VC as an alternative. You know the dumbs.

Ah, yes. WoW was released and all the people started calling Deadmines VC to avoid confusion with Dire Maul, which did not exist yet. That’s how it went down


Not to mention the embarrassment of joining a Tribute run and making it all the way to Feralas as a level 20 only to find out you can’t keep up as a healer in it.

Deadmines is DM. Dire Maul is DM East, West, North, tribute, w/e you are doing. There is no need to call them anything else.

Look up the guide on archive . org on page 9 in the glossary terms it’s there

Not many people called Dire Maul just “DM” back then. You referred to the wing of Dire Maul you wanted, so it was almost always DM East, DM West or DM Tribute when talking about it.

WoW Beta Tester here (Test server 4), and I can confirm that it was called DM for Deadmines. Now you youngens GET OFF MY LAWN!

It doesn’t even matter for me. If I’m forming a group and someone says, “VC?” they don’t get an invite. Alternatively, if I’m looking for a group, I just avoid the ones that say “LFM VC”.

You don’t go around looking for a Live Stratholme run and say “LFM GCD (Grand Crusader Dathrohan) or LFM Bal (Balnazzar)”.

Sure as hell miss me with that VC.

DM = Deadmines

DM with a N/W/E after it = Dire Maul North/West/East

So DM is Deadmines and DM N is Dire Maul North.
