not sure if this is a known issue but if im logged in and have to step away from my game for a few minutes, my computers screensaver takes over. this hasn’t happened before the prepatch and i was wondering if anyone else was having this issue?

what do you mean takes over? cause uhm my computer screensaver…uhm.

essentially as if im browsing the web or not logged into the game as the screen saver would normally work. since pre patch it acts as if the computer doesnt realize im logged into the game.

Do you mean the monitor goes into standby mode to save power?

Screen savers were something that were used to stop burn in on CRTs and early plasma screens by playing animations.

mine is set to picture show but yes

Oh…

Looks like that’s the “lock screen”

Didn’t even know those old screen savers were still around.

But it’s probably going to be the time out settings in your power settings. Not there isn’t a bug on blizzards part that’s not notifying the OS that you’re still using the monitor, but at least you could probably work around it with the power settings.

i’ve turned it off for now, i was just wondering if anyone else was having the same issue

I’ve had mine off for years. Other games did this like Fallout.

Not sure why but I just close turn off when I am done playing. Stepping away for 30 minutes…ehh I still might leave it up.

Hasn’t affected my screens in 10 years of doing this. Long ago I got the habit of turning off my computer rather than let it idle all night

Yep. Happening to me too now. A screensaver should never turn on when you’re running a game in fullscreen mode. It’s 100% something Blizzard changed in the pre-patch that is doing this, but I’m unable to figure out how to fix it. It’s probably something Blizz will have to debug in a future patch.

Smart people do.

I haven’t even seen a screensaver in at least 15 years. Unless you include those demo videos that play on display models of devices in stores.

Nah, they’re outdated. No need anymore.

Yes my battle.net client, or anything else on the same monitor. Now the game launches behind anything on my screen. I have to manually try to get it forward or move stuff to other monitor. Never had that problem until 11.0

I just turn my monitor off.

if i’m not using the screen, i’d rather it go to sleep instead of wasting power.

feels like a smarter option :woman_shrugging:

No, the smarter option would be to get a job so you don’t have to worry about the power expenditure of a monitor being left on lol. Screensavers are more than just practical, they personalize your PC. Do you have a blank desktop background too?

You do realize many disabled folks are WoW players too and many can’t work and are stuck with only living on a Disability Pension now right…if not you should learn that.
