Screen issues

Does anyone else have an issue where the screen will turn off for a bit while playing the game, and then it will take like 10 seconds for everything to load back in, like you can see the buildings and other players re-appearing after they dissapeared?

It’s been happening for atleast a couple months; it used to do it only when I alt-tabbed every now and then and the screen would come back blurry but now it just happens randomly when I’m playing the game sometimes and the screen doesn’t come back blurry, but the screen basically turns off (or players/objects dissapear) and then reappear after 10 seconds or so

are you kidding me? I have been blaming my new monitor for that lol.

The bugs are getting worse and worse and soon blizzard won’t even be able to blame addons for them anymore.

Yep, top notch quality.

ok I guess it’s not just me, lol

I submitted a bug report but just wanted to double check if anyone else was having the same issue to make sure it wasn’t only on my end; It could be a add-on issue but I only have one add-on installed (Details) and its up to date so I highly doubt it’s that

Could be your PC hardware, monitor, cables between the 2. What is your setup like?

I’m not changing my hardware - I play other games and it runs fine so I know its not an issue with my computer it’s something going on with WoW

ok GL

Yea I appreciate the help but I really do think this is an issue on Blizzards end; Not sure what you mean by hardware but I’m running a Geforce RTX 4080 - 1440p monitor with HDMI cable, graphics overall settings on 6 (although distance, terrain, and the other one maxed); I5-13400 F processor with 16G of ram

I think you’re describing the issue with directx 12. Try changing it to dx11. Worked for me.

Not sure if it happens often enough for you to test t his, but if it does, this should help with that,

open bnet launcher, go to Settings > Game Settings > World of Warcraft, Check “Additional Command Line Arguments”, and put in -d3d11 and hit Done.

This forces it to use directx11 instead of 12. This fixed that issue for me when it would happen after opening xmog ui. So worth a try.

hmm interesting ty, I may try that

Ah yes I did notice it happened today while opening up my xmog mount; I will try that ty

P.S. Any downsides to switching to Dx11 from 12?

I have not encountered any issues from using 11, but I am also on an older system, so probably worth a google search to see what you could be missing out on.

already done lol, google AI basically says “possibly a bit less performance, but can fix issues where you are running Dx12 on computers with older hardware” I didn’t really think my computer was using older hardware but with today’s technology who knows.

Honestly most likely a bug on Blizzards end and it happens rare enough I still dont know if I will make the switch but I might try it and see if I notice any performance issues

P.S. Also kudos to General chat for responding before Support forums lol

There was also some buggy crap where SOME trees would turn black lol in some areas of the game a bit back.
Its not my rig…or software…everything else is running just fine

is it where it goes black and then you see some architecture and then it loads back in

There are two fixes I know of:

  1. Switching to DX11.

  2. Using Plumber if this only happens when you try to load your Apperences or Tmog panels.

Update your graphics driver. I’ve had the same thing happen even just walking into the bank in Dornogal.

this actually happens when you play in full screen mode and you have multiple monitors. Anytime you alt tab to go out to another monitor everything refreshes and goes dark for a few seconds. If you want to resolve that issue, you need to change it to full screen window mode and take it out of just regular full screen. as somebody with 4 - 27 inch monitors it used to happen to me all the time.

i have a issue where my screen seems to start melting.
