I’m having an issue where randomly my in game screen will flicker until I restart the PC. I have attached a video to see it in action.
At first I thought it was my NVIDIA optimization but I even tried with default in game settings in still the same. Also does it Full Screen and Windowed Mode.
It’s a Dell Gaming Laptop with a RTX 2060 6gb video card
W10 Pro.
NVIDIA Driver = 451.67
All Computer drivers are up to date.
Any thoughts?
Hey sorry that I don’t have anything to add, just that I’ve been experiencing that myself, and I hope there’s a fix out there!
I’ve been having this issue too I came here because of two reasons
- I was told to come here by BlizzardCS on twitter for my issue
and 2. Also to see if anyone else was having the same issue.
It seems to be a layering issue and I’m not sure what’s causing it.
On the load screen certain layers on certain objects in the background seem to flicker or a character’s hair on the load screen or certain pieces of armor.
I also have been having issues with it in game as well I click on a certain character in game and in their portrait or if I inspect them again the hair layer seems to not load or flicker.
Also if I look at my character in the equipment screen.
I made certain that all my hardware and software is up to date 100% even visiting the troubleshooting “help” page on WoW to ensure I did it properly.
I am running:
Desktop
Windows 10 Home 64-bit
OMEN by HP Desktop PC 870-2XX
DirectX 12
NVIDIA
GeForce GTX 1070
Hey all,
Thanks for the reports, info, and bonus video link! This looks similar to an issue that we’ve been tracking affecting newer Nvidia drivers which causes certain textures to flicker when MSAA is enabled.
Check in-game in the System -> Graphics settings to see if you have Anti-Aliasing enabled and set to MSAA (2x, 4x, or 8x are all affected). If it is enabled try disabling that and see if the flicker goes away.
Something else that may help temporarily would be to go into System -> Advanced and switch your Graphics API to DirectX 11. This should also work around the issue for the time being until it can be fixed in a future Nvidia driver or WoW patch. Once it’s fixed you’d want to switch back to DirectX 12 for better performance.
Hope this helps!

I’ve had a similar issue where surfaces flicker/shimmer but they turn a solid red, green, or blue for a split second. MSAA not enabled and DX11 and DX11 Legacy are the only options available (Windows 8).
No idea if it’s the same Nvidia issue or not but it’s been happening since 8.3 and on a few different driver updates since.
