Scrap-O-Matic 1000 Broken

The Scrap-O-Matic 1000 in Tradewinds Market, Boralus, Kul Tiras (next to Crenzo Sparkshatter) seems to be broken. Several times I have scrapped there without any difficulty, but in the past few days it seems to have developed a bug.

I don’t think it matters, but I’m trying to scrap:

  • Harbormaster Faceguard
  • Freehold Shoulderpads of the Fireflash
  • Bleakweald Chestguard
  • Sagehold Legwraps of the Feverflare
  • Igneous Winterskorn Loop
  • Ornate Elun’dris Ring
  • Ancient Tuskarr Sea Charm
  • Rikal’s Ritual Beads

I click on the Scrap-O-Matic 1000, and click each item in the list above, which “loads” the items into the Scrap-O-Matic 1000 window. I right-click “Scrap,” and the Harbormaster Faceguard is scrapped into:

  • Monelite Ore
  • Stormsilver Ore
  • Durable Flux (x2)
  • Platinum Ore (x2)

The other items remain unscrapped, and still loaded into the Scrap-O-Matic 1000’s interface. I click “Scrap” again, and nothing happens. I click the “X” on that interface, click on the Scrap-O-Matic 1000 again, and reload everything (minus the Harbormaster Faceguard, of course) into the interface. I click “Scrap,” and nothing happens.

I click on “Crenzo Sparkshatter” and he asks, “Can I help you?” I swear a little to myself and click on the Scrap-O-Matic 1000 again, and try reloading my items. Click “Scrap” again, and again, nothing happens.

I /reload, and try again. Nothing.

I log out, log back in, and reload everything into the Scrap-O-Matic 1000 again. Freehold Shoulderpads of the Fireflash scrap into:

  • Blood-Stained Bone (x2)
  • Coarse Leather
  • Tempest Hide (x2)
  • Hardened Tempest Hide (x2)
  • Calcified Bone

And we’re back to the Scrap-O-Matic 1000 ignoring my existence, mocking me in its absolute indifference. While logging out and logging back in is an apparent workaround, it’s really not feasible.

It may be worth noting two players achieved the “Giving a Scrap” achievement while I was putting together this bug report just now, and they did not make any complaints about the Scrap-O-Matic 1000 being broken.

I’m having a similar issue at the shred-master Mk1, have disabled all addons, load 9 items into the scraper window it’ll shred the 1st one and give me the loot/resources however the window then bugs and it becomes unusable until I exit and relaunch from the b-net launcher. Once relaunched I can again shred one item but then have to exit game again to do it all again. The post is reporting it on classic but the issue is on retail.

Is this in the wrong part of the forums? My issue is on Retail as well, and what you’ve described summarizes the issue I’m having.

I’ve used the scrapper in Boralus a few times since the pre-patch, and I’ve seen the same behavior. There is a workaround that is a bit slower. I hope it gets fixed, but for the time being this is what I’ve noticed.

The scrapper works, and won’t lock up, if you load and scrap items one at a time. Insert an item, scrap, receive items and repeat ad nauseam. I’ve not had any problems scrapping Tidespray Linen Bracers following this method, but it is certainly slower than how it used to work.

If it locks up after attempting to scrap several items at the same time, I’ve noticed you don’t have to log out of the game to get it to start working again. A combination of closing the scrapper window, casting one or two spells, and waiting several additional seconds seems to be sufficient.

For what it is worth, I’ve not been running add-ons since the pre-patch, and I cleared out appropriate folders after uninstalling add-ons.

Thanks, I’ll try scrapping one item at a time and casting some spells for now. I do hope they’ll get it fixed, but my guess is it’s a low priority and probably one of those “featured bugs” that will remain in-game.

ETA: Scrapping items one at a time and casting two spells worked like a charm. Of course it’s slower than being able to scrap nine items at a time, but it’s better than nothing. Thank you, Hasylla, for the suggestion.

ETA 2: Scrapping one item, then casting one spell without closing the scrapper interface works just fine, too.

You can insert an item, scrap, insert another item, scrap, etc. I only mentioned casting a spell/waiting a few seconds for when the bug appears and it locks up.

I tried scrapping items last night without using any spells between them, and one at a time, I didn’t have any issues. I may get bold and try two at a time today.

This bug looks to have been fixed. I rapidly scrapped over fifty items without any issue.

That’s good news! I’ll test it out and report back when I get the chance.
