With the Crown of Wills, it seems to imply that free will will reign over domination…so is it possible that the Scourge would regain their autonomy and choose a faction to fight for? I guess their “Capital City” will be ICC…
Thoughts?

A Scourge allied race? Hell no, wtf
What would a Scourge Allied race look like. There are ghouls and zombies in the forsaken, but they aren’t playable.
Could work as as a neutral allied race
We already have playable Scourge.
They’re called the Forsaken.
as a neutral race like Panderian…and imagine all things scourge could be playable…from gheists to abominations like Patchwerk…
How else do we deal with the scourge problem on Azeroth when we will not have a crown to keep them in line?
Forsaken is dead. Without Valkyr to raise more, you are looking at an already extinct race.
Unless you want lightbound Forsaken/Lordearons…
That applies to the Scourge as well.
Playable, free-willed Scourge are the Forsaken. We don’t need “Also Forsaken” as another playable race.
Newly freed Scourge wouldn’t be a separate race, they’d just be more free-willed undead to be potentially recruited by the Forsaken or the Ebon Blade. Unless they’re originally from Northrend, such as the Nerubians, Drakkari, Taunka, or Vrykul, I don’t see why any newly freed undead in Northrend would choose to stay there if they could leave, or why they would continue to group together as the Scourge, rather than at least attempting to return home and figure out their new place in the world. The Forsaken and the Ebon Blade have collectively already done the heavy lifting of getting the living used to the idea that not all undead are mind-controlled Scourge, and both Lilian Voss and Darion Mograine have been established as being personally invested in helping new undead under their respective leadership cope with their condition. Between the two organizations, we already have a pretty good pathway for any new undead, ex-Scourge or otherwise, to rejoin the rest of Azerothian society.
Just sounds like an expansion to the Forsaken. I remember the direction many fans wanted for the Forsaken(post Wrath) and it was to rehabilitate some of the Scourge and absorb them into their ranks.
Which we almost got through the San’layn but Blizz monkey pawed the hell out of that.
Man….I had sooo wished the horde had gotten san’layn in BfA. Definitely would’ve rolled a horde char again.
Which I might actually when I get home. Probably a forsaken hunter
Calia Menethil will take that crown
Aren’t the Scourge at this point basically just the mindless Undead too far gone to have any sentience/sanity left?
How would this work exactly?
San’layn people in Ravendreth castle being south of Lordaeron ready to fight their worgen enemy. That would be the battle that we dream for so long.
Meanwhile the forsaken can go fight human just east of there.
meanwhile necromancy still exists and we have an entire covenant that lives by that >.>
It wouldn’t surprise if Blizzard manages to miss how this changes the situation.
I heard playable Scourge and my first thought was a playable Frost Wyrm.
If we can get customization from Scourge races, I just want to be a ghoul all the time.
This is the Forsaken. You’re describing the Forsaken.
While it would be good to see customization options for the forsaken, the best thing for the game would be the creation of several ‘neutral’ factions of undead to form under powerful scourge overlords who vie for control of Azeroth.
Honestly this is probably how we “turn off” the rampaging undead in Azeroth, since, ya know, that’s supposedly still a thing.
Someone (probably Sylvanas, possibly Bolvar) will put on the crown and put the Scourge “to rest”.
My two cents anyway.
