Okay so I have not seen or read anything in-game that suggests this, and in-game I don’t believe they are still assaulting the capital cities because Blizzard doesn’t want people complaining about it.
But, is the Scourge, lore-wise, still running rampant and attacking Azeroth since Shadowlands dropped? I mean it was kind of an issue and then Shadowlands hits and we go straight to Icecrown and into the Shadowlands… but like what about the Scourge on Azeroth? Did they just stop?
I just realized the page is actually blank. So, when you do the Kyrian Campaign, you go to Azeroth to collect a soul. It’s this guy. You experience his last moments. He died to a Scourge assault on Lakeshire.
Dang I need to do the Kyrian campaign. But is that quest currently taking place? Or did he die weeks ago to the Scourge and you are just now getting to save his soul?
Sorry I didn’t watch the video, I am currently on mobile and my phone is trash lol.
Interesting so the Scourge is still rampaging around Azeroth then. Good to know! I thought it was weird that Blizzard would just stop the Undead attacks in the city once Shadowlands dropped even though in lore they are still attacking. I mean I get that it is so they can’t grief players, but it is a bit jarring.
I am hoping we see a resolution to this at some point and they don’t just write off as the undead went away.
In terms of game mechanics, yes. The Pre-Patch Legion Invasions around the world ended. Lorewise, they were on-going. Jaina was fighting against them as was revealed in her pre-BFA… comic? I think she had one.
As said above, it seems to be that the Scourge is still attacking Azeroth. With a quest in the Kyrian campaign showcasing someone’s life in Lakeshire.
I think this is actually a subtle cue to it, and i’m hoping this means that further into this expansion that’s a problem we also have to deal with back home instead of just staying in the Shadowlands.
I would hope so. Would be pretty lame if they just went away or if we somehow managed to defeat the “rampaging scourge” in such a short period. If they’re still attacking however, im curious what the aftermath of that will be when we eventually return. Especially if there’s some type of timeskip scenario.
Well, if we have a time skip Blizzard definitely will just glance over the details of what the Scourge did. I personally think we will solve the Scourge issue in 9.0.5, or 9.1.
Then return to the Shadowlands. After that I could see some weird time mumbo jumbo where we come back to Azeroth and a few years have passed.
Keep in mind the Scourge isn’t rampaging leaderless, it’s being directed by the Mawsworn. We saw that in the pre-event, one of the Maw Kyrian was leading the stuff going on in Icecrown. Solving the Jailer problem will also solve the Scourge one.
That’s true… but at the same time the Scourge was running rampant across Azeroth and then the PC, and leaders just go to ICC and head straight into the Shadowlands. So what has become of Azeroth? Did the Scourge just stop once we went to the Shadowlands? I am curious because in-game we see no more ghouls or undead anywhere near the capitals, but it doesn’t make sense that they would have just disappeared.
I am wondering from a story/RP perspective. It is jarring if we had massive Scourge attacks on the city and then suddenly nothing, and everyone is going back to chilling in the taverns and walking the streets like overnight.
Cult of the Damned, too. Until something is done that either mass-disables/destroys the Scourged undead or subjects them once more to a controlling will that can force them to withdraw, the Mawsworn and cultists can probably keep using their knowledge of necromancy to coordinate the Scourge to attack.
