What if they have a little longer prepatch campaign planned for this time around. Rather than around one month what if it comes out in a month (September) and lasts till November. (the last known info on release date)
The prepatch event is the long-awaited scourge unleashed across azeroth. They could make this one a longer campaign than previous expansions.
Thoughts?
I’d take anything besides what we have now honestly. Give me the prepatch today and I’ll happily play it until shadowlands comes out.
A month is more than long enough. Don’t really need it to be any longer than that. Hopefully it’ll only last two weeks at most.

The Legion pre-patch was amazing, probably the best Blizzard has ever done. Dynamic, spanned the whole world and encouraged people to explore zones they haven’t seen in years, encouraged alt-leveling, got people out in the world.
The BfA prepatch was awful, from the writing, to the short stories that completely contradict in-game events, to the lazy world quests in Darkshore (that never seemed to pop MH weapons), everything about the BfA War of Thorns prepatch was terrible (I don’t feel guilty about saying that, the War of Thorns was very sloppily thrown together, the players know it and Blizzard knows it).
Let’s hope it’s more like the Legion prepatch. The longer the better.
Yeah. So Blizz stated that corruption turns off with the prepatch. But they’re gonna introduce the prepatch as we still work on upgrading the cloak ?
You speak as if any of the 8.3 systems make sense. This is Blizzard after all.
How do they not make sense ?
Why would Blizzard let people know in advance how far to plan their corruption build only to turn around and turn it off? Just to have a “longer prepatch?” Doubt
They will give a heads up, achievements , aotc ,pvp all end with it. I dont know or understand how it could be scourge as they are stranded now. They had necromancers in plaguelands before that could summon. Now it’s a huge swim as their only way here.
Every zone has corpses. LK was keeping them calm. Now they’re out of control
They did just give the heads up about these. Theres a section in the launcher currently that says “these are going away with the prepatch.”
They didn’t give a date though. And it won’t be before Sept. 8th
Sounds reasonable to me timeline wise. At this point I’m not even sure what the Beta is for. Blizzard doesn’t seem to be open to changing much between now and then. And August is obviously a busy month for other reasons. September 8th pre-patch with an October launch that doesn’t coincide with anything like Cyberpunk 2077 or major console launches (probably November) sounds about right.
It can’t patch on September 8th/that entire week. You max your cloak only to have it become useless the same week? Why even upgrade that week to begin with ?
I’m going to take a guess at the day of the pre-patch.

Because that’s when FFXIV’s new patch comes out, and that’s how Blizzard usually rolls.

I mean…why max it anyway? What is the point? What was the point of farming legendaries at the end of Legion?
It may not be Sept. 8th, but it sure won’t be much longer after that.
I’m not one to argue, but if they’re aiming for that goal. Then they need to get that bad boy on the PTR pretty dang soon. This week, or next week at the latest for a modicum of half baked testing.
Why gear up at all if the next patch/xpac is gonna give better gear ?
