Scholomance

I will have 4 pieces of phase 1 prebis in Scholomance. PuG Scholo runs on the last private server I played on were an absolute nightmare every time. AQ wasn’t out and BWL was cleared by maybe 25% of guilds, so average raider’s gear was MC and a few BWL pieces.

Warriors had a terrible time holding threat on the casters, and if they didn’t LoS in very tight spots, it was almost an insta wipe. I didn’t need anything in there, but went for demonic runes…and it wasn’t even worth it after a while with how bad it would get.

I am happy they tabled Dire Maul for a phase, but man I’m really apprehensive about farming Scholo with groups of people with bad gear. As a healer, when I need preraid, I typically just focus on that until it’s done. So fishing in Tanaris while watching /world for groups is probably what I’ll be doing for as long as it takes. I’m interested to see how long it takes WoW players of today to master it.

Get a guild with competent members? I almost never PuG’d max level content in Vanilla and I don’t intend to do it this time round either.

Your private server sounds p bad - I was getting into ZG and AQ pugs that were clearing no problem.

If you are afraid of Scholo in it’s post nerfed state, then I cannot imagine how you’d handle the unnerfed (and better) early version.

Early Scholo was like Jenga. Yeah, there were a lot of pieces, but pull the wrong one or pull one wrong and the pile came down. It required both careful pulling as well as verrry careful CC. The nerfed version glued many of the pieces together and removed many entirely.

the unwashed masses of private server warriors are garbage at tanking.

I never had issues pugging Scholo in Vanilla.

Having a mage is nice, if not required.

I’m looking forward to this phase more than anything: When many people are still leveling, and 60s are running 5 mans for blues.

It’s when you make good friends and build a network of reliable players. Plus, after ~10 years of welfare epics, it will be refreshing to see everyone caring about blue gear again.

Same here. This’ll be the best time to “network” if you’re not already in a decent guild. I’ll likely be repeat farming dungeons with my guild for a week leading up to raids.

I knew people that had macros made up to explain mechanics of pulls in DMW. Was debating making some for several instances myself. That’s the nature of the beast you cant just faceroll stuff. Do the macro thing to teach people stuff or get friends/guildmates.

I don’t remember a whole lot about Scholo, mostly just clearing up to Ras for the alchemy table. I don’t remember it being that bad. The guy with the aura was annoying, but that’s about it.

i’m excited for scholo. it’s my favorite old school dungeon, particularly in its original state. i do remember how careful you had to be, such as in the rattlegore fight

Now this maybe a silly question but I never did Scholomance during vanilla. Anyone think a fully blue geared pre raid BiS rogue + druid combo could duo stealth run Strat-live and scholomance bosses?

I was able to solo both as a fresh 70 when i finally decided to try the instance but im curious if this can be done. Im hoping that 2 well geared 60s can pull the weight of a fresh 70, but idk.

Does Darkmaster Gandling have a discretion on when he ports people to the solitary rooms? It might get difficult if he ports the druid and the rogue is left there with no healing for 30+ seconds.

Between evasion, sprint and LoS maybe. Might need to use engineering/achemy for him specifically to be back to the room faster.

Edit: The duo doesnt have to kill all the bosses im just wondering if it works on downing majority of them.

My Druid could solo some of LBRS, but I had MC/BWL gear - pre AQ. So long as the Druid goes Feral/Resto hybrid you should be right for a fair chunk of it. Druids were probably the most underrated class in vanilla. Just don’t have a full resto Druid or Balance (lol…). And full feral won’t have enough healing for both of you. 1/29/21 worked well. And of course go combat swords on the rogue.

no. hehe . :sunglasses:

Honestly I don’t see this happening. Even if you somehow get to Gandling’s room clearing the zombies that do aoe damage is gonna be incredibly hard to duo. Same for Alexei Barov and his adds.

And then Gandling himself will teleport one of the two making it an incredibly hard fight.

I am not saying it’s totally impossible… with aq/naxx gear and loads of consumables and engineering you might be able to pull it off but surely it will not be time/resource effective. It would be a bragging feat not a farming strategy.

You might have been able to do it on your 70 toon because most of the damage in the instance is magical and with that lvl advantage you’d resist most of it. Same goes for a great reduction in incoming physical damage. At the proper level Scholomance is a very hard instance.

I will be playing druid and I planned on going a Tank druid, but obviously im going to get several gear sets just in case. I have seen that resto tank spec around but i was curious in your opinion would the druid be using tank gear or healing gear. I dont remember if you’re allowed to switch gear with a macro mid fight or not.

And yes i agree druid was horribly underrated in vanilla.

Edit: I will have to look at the Gandling fight a bit more closely and some spell resist formulas to see if i cant emulate the level difference with potions. But ignoring him for now I’m mostly concerned with the majority.

Scholo is lots of fun if you play with decent players. YOU should not have any problem getting into good groups on actual Classic WoW. The private server kids like to think they’re better than they really are.

The game play is about to Evolve to a whole new level once Classic goes live, that’s just the way things are when you have a massive player base on a video game.

When the player base is smaller it stagnates, and people start to talk them selves up because the competition becomes inbred.

You can’t switch armor while in combat, but weapons are fine. They just cause a 1.5 sec GCD. You’d want a mix. Enough mana to be able to shift a few times and throw a couple of heals. But the rest goes into armor and stam/str.

Keep in mind mp5 doesn’t work in car/bear but spirit does. Druids have the second lowest mana regeneration from spirit (only lower is shaman) but while in forms you’re not “casting” so after 5 seconds you’re regenerating at the full rate. This is how they outlast their opponents in pvp. Use mana in batches, then bear form and regenerate mana. Rinse and repeat.
