Blizzard hear me out here - for those unaware, without this schematic in the game as soon as you get full T1 your best in slot weapon become a blue level 47 2H sword with 3% hit on it - The Warmonger. This schematic is massive for hunter itemization.
T1 has 3% hit on it (for reference T2 only has 2%). This means you need to find another 6% hit from your off pieces/weapons. Band of Accuria - 2%,
Tarnished Elven Band - 1%(Diremaul), Onyxia Tooth Pendant - 1%. This means that with the exception of putting a striker’s mark on a hunter, which also only puts you at 5% hit gained from non tier, and youre still below cap, you cannot reach hit cap in Phase 1-4 content without one of the following happening.
A) You spec 0/31/20, gaining 3% hit from talents, allowing you to drop some of the hit% you gain from non tier pieces for some more raw throughput stats from say, Quickstrike bands. This option is a bad one as you lose more dps from the spec than you will gain from the additional 2%crit and some other minor stat increases from using quickstrikes. B) Use a Warmonger until naxx
C) Ignore getting 8/8 T1 entirely, which would normally be BIS for hunters and have to itemize far more hit on gear - pushing hunter even further behind when compared to their peers once people start getting geared. And even then I dont think you can reach hit cap doing this until AQ40 still.
With the exception of taking the C route. It is possible to not have to do either of A or B come AQ40 if you were to use a Striker’s Mark and a Cloak of Concentrated Hate off of Skeram - but youd still be losing damage over the alternative because youre using a Striker’s mark over the chromag xbow…
Please blizz - dont force hunters into using a level 47 blue as their BIS weapon (shhh feral tanks - wardens staff is insane.) for the next ~2 years. Ive read that the pattern was removed early because it was broken - affecting melee and ranged hit and only reintroduced in the patch 1.10 loot tables where it was nerfed to only affect ranged attacks - and were on patch 1.9 loot tables which explains why it’s not in game ATM, but consider pushing it through for the sake of balance/itemization as it is crucial for hunters to have.
EDIT: It was added in 1.4, removed in 1.6 because it was broken, and then readded in 1.10 nerfed to only affect ranged attacks. AFAIK they dont plan on giving us 1.10 loot tables until phase 5. But I think this schematic specifically should be pushed sooner
