Since the last update i’ve been met with these SChannel Event Errors that randomly causes my Hardcore WoW Game to crash. I immediately thought it was addons, but I disabled them all and still continued to crash…
I played 1-55 Since November with the exact same setup and internet without ANY crashes or DC’s. Ever since the latest update (I believe Jan 31, 2025?) I have been crashing every single day.
Things i’ve tried:
I’ve completely uninstalled Battle Net and WoW.
I’ve completely deleted all Cache folders
I’ve completely reinstalled Battle Net and WoW.
I’ve tried Scanning and repairing the game.
SChannel Event Errors still happening.
What is going on?
I was able to resolve this issue permanently on my end.
Are you currently using a PiHole, pfBlockerNG, or any other network level ad-block/dns filtering on your LAN?
I had the exact same error repeatedly present in the Event Viewer, even causing crashes was because I was blocking the domain: “telemetry-in .battle .net” (delete the spaces) this wasn’t being blocked explicitly but I had regex filtering setup to block ads and domains that start with “telemetry”.
I added this to my whitelist on pfBlockerNG and now the certificate can properly download and I get no more errors.
Weirdly enough, I moved Airbnb’s lately and the SChannel Event Errors stopped for a week. Then I moved to another Airbnb and they resumed happening. Started crashing randomly in Hardcore again…
