Scarlet Crusade RP

Will I get harassed by the RP elitists if I choose to roleplay as a scarlet crusader? I’d want to preach about the Light and the evils of the undead in front of the Stormwind Cathedral but I’m not sure if I’ll get good reception. It’s not that important but I’d like to know what I’m getting myself into.

My toon wouldn’t mind engaging in some fun dialogue with someone like that! Or are you specifically talking aboot your fellow Alliance players?

Alot of Scarlets go incognito around town, but I have to say that I have the most fun with the Tabard out. Some may spit on you, but it really adds to the experience. Its nice to see Scarlet RP returning! Oh, and be sure to approach scarlet guilds ooc, some of them are quite nasty to each other, and Id hate for you to be discouraged early on.
And feel free to message me if you see me around Stormwind, im often around spreading a message of Scarlet Love and Scarlet Tolerance.

To be completely honest? The Scarlet Crusade has been violently dismantled. There’s a kill-on-sight order on the Scarlet Crusade, and if you do anything to out yourself as a member, you’ll be skewered on the tip of an Ebon Blade Knight’s runeblade, or smited by a priest, or shot between the eyes by a hunter, or so many other horrible fates.

The Scarlet Crusade was driven to insanity by the machinations of two dreadlords, and will kill any non-Scarlet entity. As a result of this, both Alliance and Horde have continuously attacked and whittled away at the organization. By Legion, we are looking at the last holdouts of the Scarlet Onslaught and the Scarlet Crusade lose almost every remaining member, and the only remaining bastion of the Scarlet Crusade/Onslaught is that one harbor in Northrend. And even then, all of their fresh blood has either been slain by mad inquisitors, or rescued from that very fate by the much, much less violent priests of Netherlight. Which, by the by, features undead such as Alonsus Faol himself in their ranks.

All wrong actually, especially in Stormwind all the local populace has is conflicting rumors of the Gallant defense of Tirisfal farms, and sinister involvement.

People are quite confused about us, and alot of what most players think is common knowledge has had no way to be confirmed by folks back home. Which is why the Scarlet Pilgrims are walking around in dalaran unmolested and Brother Crowley is still in Stormwind.

You may have some issues with the Ebon Blade, but people dont know enough to let them kill you willy nilly.

The Crimson Pilgrims are actually confirmed rescued by the Priest Order Hall Leader, who saved them from the aforementioned mad inquisitors. They were just about to go on the chopping block for not hating other people enough. Also, Dalaran was in Northrend when the Scarlet Onslaught was butchering everyone, not just Scourge, so, they’re unmolested because they were the few sane people in a madhouse, not because they’re Scarlet.

As for people in Stormwind not hearing, I cannot firmly present evidence that dismisses your statement, however, you’ve got to keep in mind that the Scarlet Crusade actually killed plenty of adventurers from Stormwind and other Alliance cities. They weren’t solely hostile to the Forsaken, Scourge, and Horde, they were butchering everyone. Also, there used to be a questline where a rogue Scarlet Crusader actually confirms to the leaders of Stormwind that the Crusade was corrupted. He himself has gone mad, and I’m pretty sure the adventurers that went to help him would have come back and brought as much up.

Honestly? You could probably do this as any kind of paladin or priest except maybe Argent (as they welcome any non-Sylvanas undead into their ranks, the Light is all-inclusive and all that). It’s not exactly like Undeath is a widely-beloved state of being. Even undead don’t like being undead.

Thank you for doing the research! Perhaps we will get more info down the road about the newly christened Scarlet Brotherhood. For now, I enjoy being an unknown quantity despised by adventurers who have been to Tirisfal (things get even weirder with the guilds, who claim to be pockets of scarlet warriors who apparently havent checked in with hq, or even the onslaught in years)

As for why she would want to preach about the evils of undead, its infinitely more fun as a Scarlet because people dont expected measured responses from them. You can froth at the mouth, or act like a deluded ignoramus!

My headcanon so far is that Joseph the Awakened survived his shennanigans at the monastery, and after it was cleared out by the Ebon blade, he claimed the title of Grand Crusader. (Which is perfect since If it turns out he died, I can just say my char is insane, or that its was Lillian Voss in judgement armor or some such, its technically Scarlet Renegade Rp, but ithas been so fun)
After remaking the Scarlet Crusade in his image, and essentially turning hq into a mad house, His Holiness decided to launch an aggressive PR campaign to improve public outlook of the Crusade and (not liking Guidonis) sent my pally to improve alliance relations in Stormwind, where I do a very poor job of allaying people fears of my order and overzealously defend the undead from minor inconveniences in the name of Scarlet Tolerance. Its a bit like what a major corporation would do if they were seriously out of touch with their client base.

And I get to incite riots, chili eating contests and pro wrestling circuits.

The way I view it, not having played a priest but having played a deathknight who’ Order Hall Campaign has us go bodysnatch Whitemane, I’ll say that even during Legion at the foot of the Banshee Queen’s home still holds some Scarlet Crusaders, after everything that has happened. To me that means that the Scarlet Crusade will live on as long as the Undead ‘live’ on, as long as a single Crusader can spout rhetoric or a single book goes unburned, the Scarlet Crusade can live on.

As for actively playing one, I would say it may be better to make it something on the DL of the character, especially if they aren’t frothingly zealous then they might understand the better path to not openly flaunt being something of a cult to the eyes of the Church of the Light and instead try to sway others to listen.

Of course that is just my opinion and you are free to play the character as you like, but keep in mind that liberty stretches to all players.

Yes, you will.

All the more reason to do it.

Lol Scarlets aren’t KOS. At least not rogue Scarlets.

Based on Cata, there’s no reason to think the Alliance isn’t mildly worried about the Scarlet Crusade. I’d imagine that since the Alliance hasn’t done much except sponsor an internal revolt years ago, they are happy to let Scarlets continue to run around as a sorta terrorist proxy or rogue cells of such to let run amok in Lordaeron.

OOCly I would have no problem with it.

ICly it would depend on the character I’m on at the time and their experiences. Some would simply shrug and walk by without paying much mind. Others may mock and deride them, for example my paladin who was part of the argent crusade would have plenty of enmity with Scarlets and see their group as nothing but abject failures. Kirelle here might tool with them just because she likes screwing with people but she wouldn’t know as much about their history beyond hearsay.

Characters that know more about the Scarlets and their failings are probably more likely to make a scene.
