During Legion, the artifact weapon gave me the ability to not take any fall damage whatsoever. When BFA came around and we lost that ability, I was crushed…
Now I fear for losing my new artifact ability - Ripple in Space. Basically a short ranged teleportation spell that has both saved my life from, and helped chase down fleeing, opponents.
Are we going to see a repeat of us losing our abilities? Or can we expect to keep them come the next expansion?
What about you guys, are you worried about losing your artifact ability?
Fully expect it along with some of our current abilities that will be replaced or renamed as talents that may or may not be considered viable.
Kind of something they do every expansion .

These devs think that removing baseline abilities and making them talents is interesting class design.
Expect to lose at least 2-3 random abilities/passives in 9.0

There will be pruning in 9.0. Some classes will be hot garbage again as they will be balanced around things that don’t exist in game for a few months.
Just like bfa and legion.

I am really sad that the Felsteed can no longer run on water.

I haven’t invested any time in the essence system beyond doing the initial quests.
One thing I will miss is the ability that lets my shield toss smack extra mobs. Sorry, I don’t recall the name.

My rogue so misses the no damage on falling…
And I’m not scared of losing anything to do with Azerite since I know is only temporary and I loathe that stupid thing so much it’s killing my enjoyment of the game.

I’ve personally been frustrated that there’s no actual growth of our character since WoD. Sure we get levels, but no new real abilities that we keep. Just temporary power tied to items we’re wearing. I know that each expansion there is a soft reset button that is hit, but with legendaries, artifacts, and the essence system; it feels like it’s hitting harder.

Yeah 100-120 is meaningless because all you get is nothing.

That depends on the class. Some of the Legion traits were baked into the class/spec. For example, Frost DKs can spec for Frostwyrm’s Fury to summon the dragon still.
The heart of Azeroth is vendor trash come 9.0. This is nothing new.
Well this is Legion but worse so…
I do Not want to be ‘reset’ with every expac from here on. It makes me feel like all the work I did prior was for nothing. A one-time reset - Legion to BfA - I can accept it as a ‘twist’ for the new expansion. But if this is going to be Blizz’s new approach each time – progress on loan … it is the one thing that would seriously make me quit the game. It’s enough our playing time is blatantly manipulated to please Kronomet. But a reset with each new expac? No.
I am sure we will lose the abilities given by Essences. I don’t see anything special about them so will not really miss them.
Next expansion, we’ll probably have to grind out something equally stupid instead of having any real Character Progression for the fourth expansion in a row.
I have no fear of losing them. I don’t find them that valuable. Certainly not like I did my artifact weapon powers and legendaries.
I’d trade any azerite trait, or essence in the game to have my arcane mantle proc back, or Blunderbus for outlaw, or any given mop playstyle.
Most essences are passive and boring, most traits are passive and boring.

i only have the one they gave me when i first got the necklace. I don’t mind losing it.
lol
Nope, I never want them to pollute the game with another legendary system like that again. Make legendary items like they used to be where only a few people got them and it required time and effort as part of a raid group. The rogue daggers were the last true legendary item to me and they were far easier to obtain than a lot of the older ones.
