So on Whitemane I noticed someone advertising a ticket raid for any of the endgame raids. His advertisement was something like “WTS ZG/MC/BWL/AQ/NAXX ticket raid! We have fully geared carries ready. Safety gauranteed! Also selling Atiesh splinters/bindings. PST! GOLD ONLY!!!”. I added him to friends so i could message him later after I googled what a “ticket raid” even was. A few months later He advertised again so i asked him how much for naxx. 45k was the price quoted, and i would get to keep all the caster gear, and he supposedly had another buyer that would keep all the warrior gear. Everything in me told me it was a scam but the thought of all that juicy naxx loot for only 45k IF it was true got the better of me.
He had me go to an elalborate discord that had time/date stamps from months and months ago with other elaborately set up fake accounts posing as buyers. They put a lot of work into it but all the signs were there of scam. Broken english from them and all the fake accounts, no mutual servers of anyone (i am in a LOT of the whitemane guilds discords), Screenshots of supposed real buyers messages with him. They got me to pay half up front. then the rest up front. then kicked me from the fake discord server and ghosted me.
I deserve it. Just a PSA in case you see these guys posting. I don’t know of anything I can do via blizzards help to get my gold back and I don’t think I can. If they pull up chat logs they will see me giving him 25k, then 20k while talking about it being for a naxx ticket raid. But the only proof of me getting scammed is me not going to naxx or getting my money back lol.
Honestly I’m glad it happened though, it really showed me how bad my lust for loot became if it can override all common sense and better judgement. It’s kind of scary I let myself get like this. Good life lesson I guess.
Sounds like a gold seller.
Glad you learned from it, people do similar IRL trying to scam People with fake investment gimmicks by several means.
Never trust a random call or text or message of any kind; its likely a scammer if at any point after First contact they show you wealth, investment strategy.
Best of luck dodging the scammers; contact game support and ask for your gold back; in game scams aren’t OK.

I believe it was a gold seller as well. I never fall for email scams, text/phone scams, etc. That’s what is so disturbing to me is that my scam alarm was going haywire yet I ignored it because of my intense lust for loot. It disturbed me so much I deleted everything instead of trying to report and continue on. This is an addicition I have to get under control and stop if it can go to my head to this degree. Watch your addiction levels on here my friends. Ask yourself if you have crossed the line in the sand that I did to the point where it is unhealthy.

I hate scammers with a passion. This is the same kind of thing they do to get real money out people.

45000 gold is a lot for just a chance at loot
i wouldn’t have thought of that as a good deal
Had a RL scammer trying to honeypot me for roughly a month before I got board of her. Such a dedicated vixen yet so obvious because whenever she thought she had my trust she would try and sell me on her investment opportunity. Eventually it was too burdensome and put an end to that crap. They really go all out with the make believe BS life they simply do not live yet try to present themselves as new wealth; a lifestyle I detest. They go all out tho, they send crazy photos, video calls, and try to work their way into your life trying to be a friend trying to figure you out so they can sell you what you want to hear.
I spent a great deal of time stringing her along to waste as much time as I could hopefully ruining her efforts and bottom line.
Just an odd coincidence, but I happened to read this at the exact time I watched Phylicia Rashad’s character being scammed out of all her money at the beginning of ‘The Beekeeper.’
When the guy on the phone calls you and tells you you won a billion dollars but its locked away in a foreign bank and all he needs is $100k USD…
That’s a scam too. There is no money
damn homie people really running around with 45k on era
