Blizzard Ticket #: US73567272
Server: Kromcrush
Faction: Horde
My character’s name on the server is Kaine and he’s a level 47 Undead Warrior
I’m not going to put the name of the Twink who scammed me…because I don’t want this post to get taken down. If a Blizzard employee sees this…please reference the ticket number.
A level 10 asked in LFG “Can anyone help me get my twink items? I’ll pay 20g per drop in Wailing Caverns.” I told him that I would help.
I spent a few hours in Wailing Caverns with him getting him the items he needed. As he had promised he paid the 20g per each item.
Each time an item dropped in Wailing Caverns he asked “Can you help me get the
Blackened Defias Armor chest from Deadmines?” And each time I told him no. I explained that to help a level 10 get that chest from Deadmines I’d have to help him swim all the way to Westfall and clear out the entire dungeon…which is way more than I had to do to get the items he wanted in Wailing Caverns. I refused to do it.
He then got desperate and offered me 100 gold. I said no again. He then said “All I have is 120 gold. If the item drops I’ll give you all of the gold I have to offer.” I was going to say no again, but I started to feel bad…like he’s desperate and has trouble getting people to go to the Deadmines to help him farm the gear he needs. Twink items go for 100’s of gold on the auction house so I didn’t think that 120g was out of the question for the twink chest item. And if it dropped it’d be worth the trouble, and if it didn’t drop at least I tried to help the guy get his twink item. So I agreed.
We swam from Grom’Gol base camp to Westfall. He died multiple times along the way and I had to wait for him to run back to his corpse. When we finally got into the instance I asked him to stay in stealth…so of course he didn’t. He ran up to me multiple times while I was fighting mobs and was instantly killed. Time and time again I had to wait for him to run back to the instance so that he could continue to get XP.
The red flag came when he asked “Instead of 120g can we do this for 60g?” I replied “No, you promised 120g and that is the only reason I’m doing this.” After that I made him confirm multiple times that we agreed on 120g and even sent a screenshot to Blizzard. If they check the chat logs they will see him reassuring me time and time again that if the chest drops he will pay me 120g.
I cleared Deadmines several times. He also died several times while running up to grab loot before everything was dead. He told me that some of his deaths were due to him being drunk. Annoyed but patient…I continued to wait for him run back to the instance. After several hours of farming he fell asleep briefly during the last run and I had changed it to master loot because I was going to master loot the item to him if it dropped…even though he was asleep. I was on the verge of giving up but I pressed on, he woke up, and finally the item dropped! After he got the loot…he stared at me…1 minute past…then 2 minutes…then 3 minutes…of silence. He eventually said “You the best” and opened trade and gave me 25 gold and then before I could ask where the other 95 gold was he logged off.
This is the point I would’ve cut my losses and peaced out.
Unfortunately, learning not to take pity on low levels is something you usually learn the hard way.

Hire a horde player to have him ganked mercilessly.

Do you need money that bad, why do you care if a twink character gets his gear? You could have farmed DM-E lashers and made equal to or more than what sounds like hours of work. You are a much better person than me, idgaf about twinks.

I’m a level 47 Undead Warrior
Was gonna say why didnt you use materloot… then come to find out you did, why did you loot him the item before getting the gold?
But ya ticket is the most you can do… and no idea how it will be resolved dont get your hopes up for that gold.
Honestly if the guy was paying per item I would have insisted on him paying immediately after getting each drop he wanted.

It was only set to Master Loot while he was asleep during the last run…because I was going to be nice enough to master loot the item to him with the expectation that he’d pay me when he woke up…or I’d contact him the following day and remind him. But when he woke up I changed the loot back to group loot. Also, when the boss died…he came out of stealth and ran past goblins near the boat that killed him once again. So he would not have been able to pay me before receiving the loot anyway.
Honestly I have a feeling you’re not going to see that gold. I’d just cut my losses and move on.
I highly doubt that CS is going to do anything about it. They don’t typically interfere with player affairs. The most they will do is punish the account and might remove the item.
From my understanding they do tend to interfere in the case of scams and actual ninja looting the problem is that no one ever meets the bar to actually qualify as ninja looting.
I’d ensure you got paid before giving the item to him, if it was truly indeed on ML.
Ah, that’s what happened.
If he typed in chat that he would pay you, Blizzard might do something about it, but you shouldn’t hold your breath.
Taking advantage of others’ pity, AND THEN SCAMMING THEM.
Isn’t that literally the worst sin there is in the world, according to Dante? Betraying one’s benefactor? Violating love given voluntarily?
Blizzard isn’t going to do anything. You aren’t going to get your gold generated out of thin air and you aren’t going to get your time back. You are looking to be made whole with something that probably didn’t exist at the time. You chose to give up your time to help someone without making the effort to ensure you got your payment. Master looter would have prevented this entire scenario.
You should be glad he gave you anything at all. Don’t trust random hippies like that. This is the kind of deal you should only do with people you know or guild members at the very least. Consider it a life lesson and move on.
lmao dj khald u da beste OP
They address outright scams. You say you’ll do X and then you do Y and the person reports you there’s a very good chance you’ll be actioned for it. So if the OP’s story is true and all the chat logs are there the guy should be in some hot water. Removing all the items he got and a suspension would be great, but the OP wouldn’t ever get gold mailed to him from that guy’s toon even if he had it.
On the topic on getting involved with Ninja Looting…it depends on how it goes down. Running a dungeon or raid with no discussion on loot and free rolling is not going to result in any action, an item dropped someone rolled and someone got mad. Even if it’s a priest taking a shield or a warrior taking a wand they won’t get actioned.
However my old guild did something really stupid and absurd where they rolled off the eye of shadow and lo and behold the pug won it over our guildie so the GM decided in the heat of the moment to “accidentally” give it to our guildie who then “accidentally” equipped it. Dumbest thing ever, especially given it’s common status. The guy reported them and they got a suspension for it.
You made so many mistakes during this encounter. Hes lame, but your the goof who didnt open trade before master looting.
All you’re doing is wasting the GM’s time. Somewhat entertaining if cringey read tho.
. Next time a level 10 offers you 120g for something make sure they have it 1st (although that’s a pretty insane price in the first place.) I wont even get enchants from a sub 60 character unless they log on their main first.
Blizzard does enforce anti-scamming/ninjaing rules.
And even if nothing is done OP is still better off than the twink, whose hatred of humanity runs so deep that he resorts to scamming generous people he finds online.
