SCAM: Reins of the Swift Spectral Tiger

I see a lot of scammers offering the Spectral Tiger mounts. These scammers are all the same… they offer to sell the mount for a unheard of low price, they take you to Booty Bay, then they use Landro Longshot to make it look like they’re trading you the mount for money… then you find our your money is gone and you don’t have the mount.

This didn’t happen to me, but I’m seeing these scammers everyday. I’ve reported several of them. What happens to these scammers? Does Blizz ban them? Or do they just keep trying to scam ppl?

Too bad this isn’t possible. Don’t hit the trade button unless you see the mount in the trade window.

What really happened was they told you some really low price (irl money or gold) and they’ll sell you the code to give to the NPC to get both mounts, you knew this was shady as hell but went for it anyway. So you traded them whatever it was you traded them and they gave you a bad code. they didn’t steal anything, you gave them a gift.

There are plenty of times you can buy mounts at stupid low prices, I’ve bought many for low prices.

Imagine not buying tigers when they were duped

What do you mean it isn’t possible? I see these scammers everyday…

Work on your reading comprehension. I said…

No, it doesn’t happen. Nobody can magically take your gold from you without you giving it to someone save the two or three times someone willingly put a script on their own computer from addons like weak auras.

You don’t see scammers every day, you are making this up. 100% making this up. You might guess someone is a “scammer” but that’s as far as that goes.

In the end, anyone who trades gold/items/irl $ to some random guy on WoW in a situation like this knows it’s a shady deal and they probably shouldn’t be doing it.

how do they use an NPC to make you think there’s a mount in your trade window?

But Blizzard still claims there was no duping lmao.

Yeah, I used to chuckle all this time when I’d see this being said.

You lost out on a lot of gold that you could have made. Thank you though, I may have made the gold you lost out on.

That…doesn’t add up.

If you manage to get scammed in wow via the trade window then you deserve it.

I’m selling an actual swift spectral tiger, but with gold cap in place you’re kind of forced to use one of the reputable 3ird party trade holders. Makes it hard to do since people don’t understand how it works. No way I’m selling mine for only 9m, either.

Right? Never mind how many times its happened (not only TCG mounts, but even gems during DS and crimson deathchargers). They are always super careful to say it is just exploiting… mhmm.

I want to know this, too.

Here is what I experienced;
I saw a scammer in trade chat advertising the spectral tiger for sale. I sent him a whisper and they said 1,000,000g for the mount. Immediately this was a red flag because I know the spectral tigers sell for gold cap. I asked my guild if they ever heard of the mount that cheap. A couple of my guildies said, “It only sells for gold cap. This guy is a scammer.” Then they said, “The next thing he’ll tell you to do is follow him to Booty Bay and meet at the NPC, Landro Longshot.” I told my guildies thanks for the advice and that I’m going to follow the guy just to see what happens. Afterall, he can’t take my gold if I don’t put it in the trade window. So, I whispered the guy again and told him that I’ll buy the mount for 500k. He AGREED (another red flag) and he invited me to a group. I met him in Org and he’s a lvl 1 (another red flag). Guess what he says next??? “Lets go to Booty Bay. The NPC we need to make the trade is there.” <— exactly what my guildies warned me about. At this point I whispered “lol scammer” and left the group.

So, no, I didn’t actually see the mount in a trade window because I stopped due to too many red flags. I dumbed down the original version of the story in the first post to keep it simple and to the point. Now you know the full story.

It’s obviously a scam and I see it in trade chat regularly. I can find another scammer, follow him all the way this time, wait for the trade window to open, then take a screen shot. We can upload pictures now, right?

Can someone explain what the npc had to do with anything?

But earlier you tried to make fun of my reading comprehension skills and say that

All of a sudden it happened to you.

Thanks for the insult attempt earlier, it’s appreciated.

is how it works, if this is even a legit story now that it’s being changed up.

I he’s implying that it’s Landro Longshots fault that someone took his gold.

Probably something like >bring gold to BB for Spectral Tiger, only 200k gold, usually goes for gold cap! Huge steal!

You got the gold? Ok trade it

where’s the tiger?

I have to redeem the code first, you give me the gold and I’ll give you the tiger. Look, this goblin is the tiger redeemer.

oh, ok.

Trade compelte

Totally Respectable and Reputable Tiger Seller has gone offline.
