So all I ever see lately is people whining and moaning about how hard/easy/boring/rehashed WoW has become and I just … well, it’s old. I swear, people have been fussing about this game since it released, but obviously they’re doing something right since we’re all still here.
So I propose we all say something nice to Blizzard about why we still keep coming back for more.
Personally, I love the fact that there’s always something new coming out. A game that has the potential to never end shouldn’t really be completable. Yes, yes, I know many of us are insatiable completionists, but that’s the whole point. There’s always something else to do. Finish one achieve, there’s another. What? Got all the mounts? Cool, they’ll release more in a few weeks!
I also love that, in my opinion, the stories have not stagnated. The lore has always kept me engaged. Yes, there’s the occasional retcon or accidental conflict with old lore, but all in all, it’s effing hard being a storyteller for a group of 5 in DnD! I can’t imagine doing it for millions of people! I’d say they’re doing pretty well.
I could keep going about everything I love here that others like to fuss and whine about, but I’ll leave plenty for others. I know I’m not alone out here.
Thanks, Blizz. I’ll keep coming back just because I love the friggin’ game.
the crafting system was a good first attempt. i like the concept of the direction, but it needs more work. if abandoned now, it will be horrible. but with more adjustments could be great.
Oh wait, I DO have something nice to say: Classic is UP, and that means HC is up, I’m not gonna do anything risky on HC toon till after retail is up, just in case…
Recently, thanks to HC Classic, I found myself playing Classic which has reignited my love for WoW. Playing classic and randomly running into lore chars I know from retail has been super fun.
When I ran into Gazzlowe last night in HC I actually freaked out like a fanboy meeting their celebrity crush for the first time.
Also - with retail - earlier in the week I logged over to do the Trading Post stuff (which have been rather enjoyable for me). And going through the journal, I learned a BUNCH of things I didn’t know…like the secret room in the Roasted Ram…That was cool.
Also apparently some quest gives me a pink party hat? Need to do that soon.
I’m done with my season goals - and right now I’m just vibing - and all the old content is legit fun to vibe to. I leveled a rouge to 60 via SL content to start doing some pet collecting and random SL stuff that I missed when I took a break.
And last week I finally finished the Glory of The Ulduar Raider for the mounts. Got several more raids I want to go back and do for their meta achievement mounts and pets.
While I could easily find stuff to complain about - its also easy for me to find things I have loved greatly.
There is consequence for dying so you fear it happening so you don’t do foolish things, and you need friends more then in retail because having a friend to group with can mean not dying, so you get to know people more, and then you go hunting and questing with them the next day and become GOOD friends, instead of never speaking again after the 1st day, like on retail.
