I know we’re at the end of SL but this has always bothered me. Why have we been saving so many souls from the Maw? I get that a good chunk were just innocent, good people that were sent there because of that one thing, but won’t another good chunk be gross, irredeemable people? Were we canonically vetting each soul to make sure they were good before saving them?
And how about the times we were empowered by them? What if a particularly terrible soul entered us and made us just a little bit worse?
Ig the difference is Pelagos will send them to an appropriate afterlife and meanwhile, we’re releasing them in whichever our covenant is. Which is kinda weird still because even if they’re good people they still might not be fit for that afterlife. I’m also kind of wondering what the criteria was for sending someone to the Maw vs Revendreth
I guess it depends on if there are any redeeming qualities in a soul or if there were none and truly evil. Because let’s face it, it’ll, there are just some truly sadistic people. People who ya e done things that you can’t comprehend a logical reason for.
"I like to dream, yes, yes
Right between the sound machine
On a cloud of sound I drift in the night
Any place it goes is right
Goes far, flies near
To the stars away from here
Well, you don’t know what we can find
Why don’t you come with me, little girl
On a magic carpet ride" - John Kay & Rushton Moreve of Steppenwolf
What I didn’t get is that after we save them, they are so grateful that they volunteer to be building materials so we can upgrade our sanctums and get bling.
a better question is what actually happens to the souls we save?
the arbiter was still broken so they can’t be judged and sent to the proper afterlife. So what happens to them? Kyrians for example are very picky about who they take, so there’s no way they’d just accept a bunch of random souls into their ranks.
