Big nukes and tentacles feels more compelling to me, than ramping haste and pushing higher stacks all expansion. We know what that feels like.
I’m just gonna keep bumping this thread tbh. Idk what else to say on the feedback forums. More than enough information is here and I’m not going to copy paste every good idea or fix that’s been posted.
This thread is for the community not Blizzard. We assume the only forums they read are the Alpha/Beta threads, therefore anything we want to bring their attention to should be posted there.
I didn’t realize you had made a mention on the official Beta forums referencing this thread so I apologize for the abrasiveness of the above post. While I appreciate the sentiment, I am dubious they would take the time to try to digest anything not on the Beta forums.
No worries. I also don’t have faith in Blizzard to actually take my advice and look here.
I just think it’s a little unrealistic to copy and paste everything you, elli, or yvaelle post as solutions. A lot of what you guys say is different from one another but it all works. Based on how things are looking it doesn’t even look like they are reading the feedback on the actual beta post anyway.
There are some other good ideas here that aren’t from the three of you but you guys tend to contribute the most to specific flow changes without repeating “make it a cooldown” over and over
The compelling part of shadow is tied up in late voidforms, which is a small fraction of the game. And the other 90% of the time its weak and boring. Dot and facetank or dot and hope stuff lives long enough to get rolling. If the fix is borrowed power again, 9.0 is going to flat suck. And I’m shelving shadow until it is really fixed.
Does it have to only be compelling the last few stacks?
I do not blame you for giving up if the fix is borrowed power because that is not an acceptable solution anymore.
The list of “does it have to be this way” problems with shadow is a mile long.
I mean even that doesn’t look like it’s going to smooth things out at this point. Maybe it will feel a little better with more haste, but it’s not like we’re hitting 30-35% haste at the end of the first raid tier. Maybe 25% or so, and with how bad it feels right now that’s not going to solve it either.
And for every item in that list, does it actually have to exist?
Many of players’ grievances with Shadow, I have come to realize, stem from problems that have existed not by necessity, but by circumstance. And if it isn’t necessary, then why can’t it simply not exist?
The example I always come with, since the community frequently comes up with it as a major problem, is the fact that Shadow needs to ramp at least an entire minute until it begins to do damage. Shadow did not ramp for a minute back in Uldir, so therefore, how is a one minute ramp intrinsic to the design of Voidform? It isn’t, as are other problems one can identify.
Excellent point. If we were able to get a little more haste then the uldir play style wouldn’t have been so hated.
These changes are actually pretty good. I gave it a shot in the optimizer and it fixes the things I don’t like about VF:
-Leaving VF feels jarring
-You feel the effects of VF immediately after VE
-Coupled with DP this would make leveling feel better in that i wouldn’t feel like im “wasting” it on a single mob
Good job
Which changes are you referring to?

I wish they would give us an option between just being a shadow priest or a void priest.
Please contribute your support to blizzard communicating to the players here.

Please refrain from suggestions or feedback, that is not what it is about.
We need a line of communcation with blizzard so we can actually make effective changes.
