No StarCraft 2 or Heroes of the Storm mention? Oof.
Booked my hotel! First time in 20yrs of playing that I’ve had the money to go. Whoop whoop
I dont think people will be able to afford going to blizzcon this year. Travel costs, hotel costs, ticket costs. Who can afford to go there live in 2023? The uber elite wealthy? Most people in this country are living paycheck to paycheck. This is just blizzard trying to milk their few remaining cash cow customers.
People are getting bored. WoW uses the exact same template. After 15+ years, those who have been playing are just bored. You grind the same crap and every new xpac flushes your time invested in the previous - people just don’t have time for that anymore.
Unfortunately, the leadership at blizzard is stagnant and couldn’t innovate their way out of a paper bag.
Look at a few innovative (copied from other games) features they did well, like garrisons or class halls and how they just left them alone rather than incorporating them into the next expansion’s story and building up on them. I get a few people were vocal about logging in to play mission boards or whatever, but that aspect actually appealed to me a lot, and I’m sure that I wasn’t in a minority.
WQ were a cool alternative to daily quests but they just took that and shoved it harder with timegates in subsequent expansions.
Anyways, I’m not holding my breath for the devs to deviate from their template on how to set up the game. They seem to think raid/mythic + / quest to new cap and .1/.15/.2 adding new raid/dungeon/gear is going to keep people subbing. I think the numbers probably show, it isn’t as people who were die hard fans are older, work, have kids, and don’t have 40hrs a week to game any more.
Hello, I see you posted a thread about a pointless event. Haha, I hope the Overwatch people have a fire extinguisher nearby to put out all of the flaming they are going to be getting!
Thanks for your post and have a great day!
Maybe they will announce Starcraft 2: Reforged? Warcraft Pocket Pet Battles?
y u take candle, u no take candle
Can you imagine what would have happened if the recent news dropped there… hopefully they will have something positive to say by then.
Considering recent events that is one hell of a bold strategy.
Overwatch’s name is mud right now. Diablo 4 looks mediocre and even if you are loving it, anything they have of actual worth to announce would be minimal. The next WoW expansion is possible if a bit of a stretch and honestly, I wouldn’t mind DF running a bit long anyway being by far the best work the WoW team has done in recent years. Oh and I guess there is Hearthstone. I think? I haven’t heard anything about that in years.
I would have expected at least another 12 months before they tried another run at this but time will tell I suppose. I know I wouldn’t be exactly kicking down the doors to get in though.
Will WOW finally have its own battlepass?
Damn, Tahonto is living 20 years in the future.
WoW will never have a battlepass. Battlepasses are for non-subscription games. Why do you guys not understand this?
Pretty sure development on HotS stopped almost a year ago, same with Starcraft II.
So any idea on what the goody bag will have for those of us that might pay for view of the event?
I feel bad for the SC fans. They never have anything to look forward too. Anytime they attempt to do a new type of Star Craft game, it gets cancelled. No SC 3 on the horizon either.
there isn’t much to the story either lol. i can’t see this going past 2024 and will not be shocked if they went ahead and told us the next expansion this at the con. im ready to get out of this expansion already lol it isn’t terrible just uninteresting
Wow has a monthly mini-battle pass now.
Does this guy have a one-way vent for the smokes?
It isn’t a battle pass and you know it. Blizzard does plenty that is toxic, there is no sense in being hyperbolic about something like this.
It most certainly is. Complete objectives to unlock limited time rewards that reset monthly. Just because it is a battle pass doesn’t make it bad though. It’s limited size and ease of even casually being completed makes it the best one I have seen.
Literally look it up.
" In the video game industry, a battle pass is a monetization approach that provides additional content for a game through a tiered system, rewarding players with in-game items for playing the game and completing specific challenges"
Let me know again where the monetization is. By your loose definition anything that is a quest that provides limited time rewards is a battle pass, which is incorrect.
Lol, at lease click on the Wiki article and not just read the Google preivew.
" a battle pass may be offered free to a player, or may require the player to purchase it through microtransactions. Once obtained, the battle pass presents the player with a number of reward tiers; by earning enough experience to complete the tier, the player gains the rewards offered at that tier. These rewards are typically cosmetic in nature, such as character and weapon customization options (also known as “skins”), emotes, and other non-gameplay affecting elements. More desirable rewards are provided at higher levels, which offer a way for players to show off these unique customization options to other players as a status symbol.[1] Experience is gained through normal gameplay, and often through in-game challenges, while some games offer a way to accelerate progression through a battle pass by using microtransactions.[2] In games that offer both free and paid-for battle passes, the free pass may have a very limited number of tiers or offer fewer or less-desirable rewards, but will track progress of the player’s progression through the paid-for battle pass, allowing them to buy that battle pass at any time to reap the rewards.[2][3]
Battle passes and the rewards contained are only available for a limited time, most commonly a few months, after which a new season battle pass with a new set of rewards are available to be acquired. Most battle pass items are unobtainable after the season ends.[2] This limited availability feeds into the psychological phenomenon of fear of missing out (FOMO), that a player, knowing certain rewards will only be available for a limited time, will be driven to buy and complete the battle pass to assure they have obtained the limited rewards in time, bringing more revenue to the game.[4] To this end, a battle pass’s progression towards rewards has to be balanced against expected gameplay time and what gameplay elements contribute towards this to avoid making the progression feel like grinding. For example, Halo Infinite 's multiplayer debuted with a battle pass that was criticized for being too slow in progression, which developer 343 Industries stated they would observe and balance in the future.[5]"
