After what Saurfang single handily did to Asmongold’s mega raid the other day I’m utterly disgusted with what the BFA cinematic did to him. Like…
Asmonwho?
Bfwhat?
One of the most dangerous and feared Orc veterans in the entire world… gets absolutely manhandled by an archer less than half his size. In melee. Because plot shield. As if I needed even more reasons to avoid BFA. The only way Blizzard comes close to fixing this is to either have the leaders of the Horde smash Sylvanas into pulp for breaking Mok’gora (which is starting to become an unhealthy trend in these cinematics), or have Nathanos assassinate her and assume her position as leader of the Forsaken.
none of this pertains to classic wow…
I don’t know the whole plot but wasn’t saurfang getting pretty old? Also rogues stacking dodge is cheating.
Of course it does. Saurfang is an important character in both Classic and BFA (albeit less so in the former), and questionable storytelling like this pushes people towards playing the former.
BFA is a completely different game then classic, nothing that happens in ti pertains to classic, even if they do share characters. different timelines, and universes.
I mean, BfA is trash no doubt, but it’s not like Sylvie is some weakling pushover. She’s an undead banshee ranger general of Silvermoon with who knows what kind of magic banshee death powers. There’s simply no way Saurfang was going to win that fight.
Sylvanas has thousands of years more experience than him. Also it looks as if she’s powered by an old god now( just my guess)
She used magic in a Mok’gora, thus invalidating her “victory.” He died, she lost. She should immediately, on the spot, be stripped of her title as warchief for behaving consistently (since Cataclysm especially) like a spineless, malicious, dishonorable knave. If Blizzard has any half decent writers left for retail, she will be booted from her position by the member races of the Horde, all of which likely never would’ve accepted her as Warchief in the first place.
I mean… Saurfang was still in his prime during Vanilla. And assmongloid nd his crew are straight garbage. Not only walking cancer that doesn’t deserve the air they breath but legit trash at the game. So this is not surprising.
I agree, and one of the biggest draws to Classic is that it serves as a big reset button for all of the awful storytelling from BC onwards. My point wasn’t that this effected the world of Classic, but that it will almost certainly draw more people towards playing Classic.
Sylvanas winning the fight is believable, the way that she won isn’t.
Consistency and world-building matters, and Sylvanas shouldn’t be beating Saurfang in a contest of straight muscle power, especially not by the massive degree that she did (stopping a heavy axe dead is HARD, especially with a short weapon like that and at those angles).
If she had dodged it, or slid it aside, or otherwise used skill and speed, or if there had been a purple flare and she used magic, any of those would be fine. But she didn’t. She just straight out-muscled him by an order of magnitude, and that makes no sense.
Saurfang cheated too for using Shalamayne. And uh… Sylvanas straight up left the horde after the fight… did you not watch the whole cinematic?
I think she only accepted it to amuse herself. I think it’s been established through out the whole of BFA, “honour” isn’t a priority on her list
Also shes been alive how long? before becoming forsaken weren’t she like a elite elf or something?
Also she acquired a new power, whatever she 1 shot blasted him with at the end
We’re talking about a thousands of year old undead banshee elf. I don’t think real world laws of force apply in this fight.
She flew away with her new powers of flight after having a slip & telling everyone what she really thought of the horde (which, come on, everyone should have known already anyway). And last time I checked, magical weapons (see Thrall’s Doomhammer) don’t count as “magic” in the same way that spells do. At least, that is the standard that has been set for over a decade now. I’d prefer no magic at all, magical weapons included.
It’s about verisimilitude and consistency with the past.
Sylvanas has never before been shown to be physically strong, not on that scale. She’s strong, by the standards of elves and banshees, but she’s no Olympic weightlifter or anything. Saurfang, on the other hand, has shown tremendous strength.
Having Sylvanas out-muscle him is inconsistent with previous portrayals of both characters, and is bad writing as a result.
Look. She straight says she hates the living. Even when you make an undead in Classic it states that they don’t even care about their allies, they are merely a means to an end. The BfA Sylv is exactly what I knew would be happening at some point. This is her true colors, the rest was acting. She used magic in a battle of honor… I am alliance diehard but that is a big no no. I read the end of campaign spoilers, I won’t divulge and spoil things, but ya… she kind of shot her foot on accident too soon but it’s exactly what she wanted since vanilla.
Because now i’m curious… I’m gonna have to go ahead and ask you to justify how/why the worlds most popular WOW streamer and his guild that consistantly get server 1sts are “walking cancer” and “legit trash at the game”.
leave the booty-bay-hurt out of it and just give us facts.
