Satellite internet is horrible for gaming for a number of reasons, although if the random disconnects are a recent thing and it was fine until then it might be another problem.
Change internet providers, not being sarcastic. I was on that myself and there is no fixing its awfulness.
I assume you’r’e in the middle of no where? If you are, see if there is low speed DSL or radio link companies. Their latency is way better.
No improvement ideas?
It’s either this or 56k internet.
You can’t improve it. Satellite internet is complete .
What about your cellphone provider?
How’s your 4G LTE signal on your cellphone? If it’s acceptable (2+ bars), look into getting an unlimited data hotspot. If you need a link to a company that is reputable and has connections with all major carriers, let me know. I went with Sprint for their 4G LTE hotspot device. $43/mo (heard it jumped up to $70/mo, but I can’t be sure) gave me 20-40mbps unlimited 4G LTE data. It did slowdown if I tried to watch Netflix and play WoW at the same time, but it wasn’t impossible.
Obviously you cannot change your parents internet provider, so that is out of the question. I would definitely look into making your cell into a hotspot if you have a good enough signal and at least 2 bars (the more the better obviously). Also make sure you turn everything down to it lowest settings so you don’t have to “pre-load” anything. When I had to connect to a bad connection I turned everything to low even though my computer could handle much better and it helped a lot.
The most helpful advice here. Thank you.
