This might be a dumb question but; are SATA power cables and the actual SATA cable universal?
I have a 1TB HDD and was looking to replace it with a 2TB SSD. It looks like the connections are the same as what’s feeding my 240g SSD, so in theory I could unplug the HDD and use those for a new SSD. I just wanted to be sure so I didn’t buy the SSD and find out there’s a different adaptor for the better drive.

SATA info and power cables will work with both your SSD and HDD.
