Sarkareth's room

So the room for the boss fight of Sarkareth is very interesting. Specifically if you look up, chains being corrupted by the void connected to what looks like a portal. Is it something as boring as just a portal to let void energy in or was it made to let something specific in?

I thought it was to keep the Slitherdrakes chained up while they got infused with Void.

The room was likely created by the Faceless Ones who took over Aberrus following the abandonment of the place by Neltharion after all.

The Portal started off as a Stain Glass Window by the way and becomes a Portal when Sarkareth tries draining as much Void as possible from it.

In effect any Void Corrupted Object if continuously drained will become a Portal into the Void. Draining Nothingness will only create more Nothingness it seems. This is shown with K’ure in WoD whom being drained of Void Energy turns into a Void God.

Yes that means a Void Lord could potentially be summoned by constantly draining a Void Portal until it’s big enough for the Void Lord to waltz in. Old Gods want to rule as Gods so they don’t start doing that when they arrive in the Physical Plane which is why the Void Lords resort to seeking the creation of Void-Corrupted Titans.

Xal’atath incidentally is one of the few who wants the Void Lords present and she just so happens to be free from the Old Gods so they will be arriving even without a Void Titan soon enough.

The Void is a vampiric force consuming everything that would eventually start consuming itself not that it matters since it consuming itself creates more Void thus making it self-sustaining.

The Void is an endless sea of Stars. Asteroids are even launched at us from the Void during the Sarkareth Raid! It’s like a Great Dark Beyond that wants to cannibalize all other Great Dark Beyonds!

“Five keys to open our way. Five torches to light our path.”
“Five lanterns, now darkened. The flame they seek will light the masters’ way.”

(This could be the new Dragon Soul)

Knowing Presence whispers: You will follow him to the deep places. The dark waters will flow in his wake.

Knowing Presence whispers: Deeper, deeper its roots will reach. Welcoming our embrace.

The fact that we go into this room for multiple quests after the raid, leads me to believe it’s going to end up being a Void “Dark Portal.” Which will eventually tie to the new tree that’s being planted.

I think this tree is going to unintentionally be fueling this portal, like Gul’Dan did to the UA Dark Portal. The location of the Zone and raid itself even lies underneath Ohn’Ahran Plains, which is likely the place for the new Tree.

The Chains that rotate around the room was most likely a contingency plan, much like N’zoth being chained beneath the waves. Deathwing after all, was a military leader who could have planned for such an event had anything come through the portal.

Edit:

I also do not think it’s Xal’atath.

In the Remnant of the Void quest, Xal’atath says this to Shadow Priests…

Xal’atath, Blade of the Black Empire says: Almost completely gone, as if it never existed. But the rift is deep and vast, and somewhere down there it sirs. Something has changed, the last prison weakens. We must prepare.

Remnant of the Void was a quest that took you to the Emerald Dream. When doing this quest, a vision of Ysera leads you to a cave with a Void Flower within.

The same place they took the NE Seed.

You use your Azerite Necklace to kill the flower, but Xal’atath still mentions that the rift is deep and vast…

So the World Tree will open a portal directly into the Void you are saying?

The Seed was formed around a Tear of Elune forged from the Night Warrior persona. The Night Warrior side of Elune is at the center of this power.

“The fall of night reveals her true face. She will bring only ruin.” - N’Zoth(Uu’nat Raid Encounter)

The Void-Corrupted Night Warrior will fall.

Soon the White Lady will be all that’s left of Elune… Not that it matters since Tyrande already stated she retains all of the Night Warrior’s power so Elune merely threw away her most hotheaded persona to our non-existent mercies.

The Night Warrior is not the only instance of a Tear incarnating into a sentient entity: The Winter Queen incarnated from the Earthmother’s Tear and the Blue Child might as well be the Night Warrior’s big sister!

Honestly if Xavius had been more clever he could have incarnated the Red Nightmare Moon as a God within the Emerald Nightmare using that Tear of Elune he shoved into Ysera.

Although… If I recall the Tidestone was left unguarded which must mean the same goes for that Tear so if anyone wants to create a new Moon Goddess out of it…

The Night Warrior’s fall gives a message concerning the Tears of Elune: They can birth Goddesses so get over to the Tomb of Sargeras and use the Tear in there to create a new one of one’s own Faction!

The Night Warrior’s Voice according to Oracle Saezurah will awaken her siblings.

Gloomseeker Yarga states there are many things darker than Night so the Night Warrior’s siblings are already corrupted and very nasty. Of course the Light has struck a bargain with them so it has a Tear of Elune in it’s possession and she’s probably far enough from Azeroth that she covets what the 6 Dark Moons hold fast: Azeroth herself.

6 Moons of Darkness(one of which is called Night), 2 Moons of Life(White and Blue), 1 Golden Moon of Light and a final Moon awaiting a new master seeking to claim it.

This goes beyond just Sarkareth’s Room, but I think all the void whispers hold some truth.

I think the purpose of the void whispers is to give themselves little anchors to know which “vision” is being made reality. When they say a whisper, and it becomes true, they know that path is most likely the one that will be.

The vassal of life disguises treachery. Beware the eyes of green.

This isn’t so much as a warning to players, but a note for the Old Gods.

If Ysera is the one who plants the NE Seed, which ends up fueling the Void Portal, then the Old Gods know this is the reality they need to influence in order to spawn the Hour of Twilight.

Knowing Presence whispers: You will follow him to the deep places. The dark waters will flow in his wake.
Knowing Presence whispers: With many eyes, they will see again. They will drink, and be uplifted.

We follow Iridikron into the deep places, the dark waters will flow in his wake, they will drink and be uplifted.

I believe this is going to tie into Alexstrasza turning into a Void Dragon. We know that Alexstrasza is set to betray Tyr, but don’t know how besides her image being that of Void.

If Alexstrasza becomes a Void Aspect and infuses the waters flowing from Tyrhold, that’s going to have major consequences for not only the Dragons, but also the land and anything planted there…

“She is not the last, but the first. Drown her and you will see.” - N’Zoth(Uu’nat encounter)

The Night Warrior will not be the last of the Tears to awaken as a Goddess but the first.

There are only two options as perceived by the First Ones: The Night Warrior rises alone unchallenged or the 6 Goddesses rise after her drowning demise.

Where the 7 Seeds are planted will decide their nature: The Night Warrior will be Night(Life) shrouded Void(the surface blazes bright masking shadows below), at least 1 will be Nightmare(Disorder), at least 1 will be Drust-tainted(Death) and at least 1 will be Necromantic Death-tainted(Yogg-Saron’s type of Death Magic specifically).

Did you not see the Eyes of Green hovering over Alexstrasza as she transforms into Zakajz?! Yes they were actually Zakajz’s Gas Sacks but they are Eyes of Green nonetheless. Kith’ix impersonating Alexstrasza is as likely an option as any.

Depends on how much you favor Elune.

Xal’atath mentioned that Elune was an “upstart goddess” which we know she deals with Void Magic.

Legend says that long ago, the Night Warrior was used by the night elves to secure Kalimdor. For thousands of years thereafter, none who attempted the ritual survived, for Elune’s raw power tore them apart.

It was then that the tribe’s mystics first began worshipping the moon goddess, “Elune”, whom they believed slumbered in the Well’s depths during daylight hours.

We know that there is the possibility of another Old God that we haven’t met, could this be Elune who switched sides?

“evil beings known only as the Old Gods, vowed to drive the Titans back and keep their world inviolate from the invader’s metallic touch.”

“Were they truly ignorant of that which lies beyond the waves?”

Keeping in mind the updated cosmic chart now has Void next to Life, next to Disorder. (Life is Disorder)

Would be very convenient for Elune to hand over a NE Seed, which would mix Void and Life into Chaos…

Edit:

IMO, if Elune were to be an Old God, I would assume it would be written that she laid below the Well of the Eternity, and through the mixture of Azeroth’s lifeblood and dreams, she became something much more than just an Old God.

If you watch the ending to Zovaal’s defeat, not only did he set out to be “Eternity’s End” — you see the Winter Queen even mention that Zovaal’s madness threatens the cycle of Life and Death. Not the cosmos, not light and void, etc…

Not to mention it was Azeroth’s Power Zovaal was trying to take, which could have been similar to how Elune came into her Power, if this were indeed the case.

Also, I don’t think Elune would be a “villain” necessarily, a cosmos divided cannot stand what is too come, could be leading into Elune being the savior. Or at least aiding Azeroth somehow.
