(I found out about a cute mouse mount, but you have to do Hearthstone to get it. I looked it up on WoWhead and it talked about doing the Mercenaries questline / tutorial. I selected the chapter / story and it says challenge 1/8 but it didn’t give a tutorial? Is this mount no longer obtainable? It didn’t give me a tutorial option for Mercenaries to do. Thanks for your help and time.)
The first chapter of the Mercenaries mode is considered the “tutorial.”
You’ll play through the first map, then be tasked to build some things in camp. Once you start chapter 2, before playing any levels but after opening the map to begin the chapter, you’ll get a popup letting you know that you got Sarge.
I just did this one a few weeks ago, I believe it should all be the same. 
(So I was clicking “solo mode” and not the “mercenaries” on the right side that showed a map with Valeera on it. I guess I misunderstood what wowhead meant as for “mercenaries”? I’m not sure. >.< )
There’s a wowhead comment that’s apparently helpful:
When I click on “Modes” on the main menu, the four icons pop up, and Mercenaries is the helmet one on the right. IDK what your interface looks like, but apparently things can be different for different people.

( I misunderstood that comment. That’s the one I was looking at. I thought it meant I needed to start solo mode, chooser mercenaries and play that adventure. It turns out mercenaries is the “winged boot” looking icon on the far right and I don’t go into “solo mode” entirely. I did a dumb dumb and chose the wrong option. >.< )

(It said “You’ve unlocked” but it’s not in game. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to retrieve the award some where else first in Hearthstone or if it just takes time?)
It should either show up directly in your mount collection, or at the mailbox. I don’t remember. Might take a bit for it to register.
