Literally last ditch effort to kill Azeroth before he gets vacuumed into Illidaddy’s Titan dungeon. They show this very clearly. Now they’re trying to imply he was aiming for something else, rather than the obvious Azeroth where he can stab anywhere.
Can’t say I buy it that he was knowingly aiming for, by his perspective, a pinhole like the Coreway or a chamber.

To me it seemed like he meant the Coreway, because “No duh Thrall, this was set in stone years ago he was aiming at azeroth”. Like why even say it lmao.
He said it in response to Anduin asking who the voice is that people are hearing call out, which was basically a roundabout way to say that he thinks it’s Azeroth.
Thrall realized he was in a cinematic and was trying to set up the camera to pan to the sword.
